Features to know about

Carry Your Gear Without Worry: Class I Strength for Everyday Use

This hitch is built for light-duty towing and everyday accessories like bike racks or cargo trays. With a 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver opening, it handles up to 2,000 lbs maximum gross trailer weight and 200 lbs maximum tongue weight. That’s enough strength for small trailers, utility hauls, and the gear you use most. The sturdy, square-tube design keeps everything stable while you’re on the move.

Install It Yourself at Home: Bolt-On Design with No Welding

You don’t need a lift or a welder to get this hitch on your vehicle. The bolt-on installation lines up with factory attachment points, and all hardware and detailed instructions come in the box. It’s a good fit for driveway installs with common hand tools—a solid project for anyone who likes to handle upgrades themselves.

Keep Rust Away: Dual-Coat Steel Construction

The fully welded steel body is finished with a gloss black powder coat over a protective base layer that helps stop rust before it starts. That double finish keeps the hitch looking sharp through road grime and weather, so it stays ready when you are.

Use It for More Than Towing: Works with Bike Racks and Cargo Carriers

Because it’s a Class I hitch, you can attach small cargo carriers or bike racks rated for Class I receivers. It gives you options for hauling extra gear on weekend trips or daily errands without loading up the inside of your vehicle. When used with non-trailer loads like racks or baskets, Curt requires a stabilization strap?#18050 to reduce stress on the hitch and maintain warranty coverage.

Looks good under fascia. Not used yet

by:

Fits great, well made

by:

stout, easy install (sort of...easy enough), meets the need.

by:

Got the hitch sooner than expected... I'll reply, after it's installed... thanks guys

by:

Fits perfect. Very easy installation 2012 A6

by:

For anyone wondering the hitch fits a 2017 A6 without a problem. Easy install comes with quality hardware!

by:

Excellent quality of powder coating, no fitment issues, and looks very discrete under my A6. Pro-tip: don't be too liberal when trimming the fascia (plastic trim) as well as attempting to remove it, as doing so makes reinstalling it more even difficult; and it's possible to install with one set of hands, but not recommended. 10/10 would buy again.

My experience with etrailer went well beyond my expectations. First was my interaction with Rebecca, who explain to me the product I was inquiring about and my options. She emailed the product information, expertly answered all my questions, tracked my order and made sure everything was delivered and was to my satisfaction. The product itself was delivered on time and worked perfectly for my needs and was exactly what I wanted.

by:

I ordered a hitch and a modulite controller. Upon arrival the box was mangled and only the hitch was inside, I reached out on a holiday and they were prompt to respond and send me a new one. I haven't installed it yet but as a company review worth the 5 stars. I'll try and revise review once installed and has been on for a while.

by:

Great product. Easy installation and a great fit

by:

This hitch fit the 2017 Audi A-6. The instructions could be rewritten for this car because of the change in exhaust tips from the previous year. That's it. Any good mechanic can figure that out. The hitch bolts on perfect. No problems.

by:

easy to hook in took 30 min no tools needed I did drill in to the center of the grommet under the tire instead of removing the rubber plug I think its better that way the 2 shroud screw was hard to get back in that should of cut the metal plate on the corners to make it better but all in all it was very easy to install the hitch place wanted $250 to install I laughed and did my self in no time if you have tire ramps it better to use them
the weight rating is low so you have to get a Thule 35 lbs rack with the the 2 e-bike to keep in under 160 lbs

by:

I love this hitch which at first I didn’t figure out would get a space on my Audi but surprisingly it fitted so discreetly under the bumper and it doesn’t stay exposed. The e-trailer fitting manual was easy to follow and with a friend we had it fitted in less than two hours without challenge.
I haven’t tried hooking up accessories yet but looking forward to this summer when I set out for bike trails.

by:

The Curt Hitch Receiver looks good and is serving me well. The install went smoothly on my 2016 Audi A6 TDI but I’m thankful that my helper had small hands. The receiver continues to support our two-bike rack without issue. We use the recommended support strap to add extra stability to the loaded bike rack.

by:

Haven’t installed it yet but I must give credit to fantastic shipping box and great quality in hitch and attachment hardware. The container was ingenious in its simplicity and ruggedness although it did manage to rip a hole in the side but no damage was done

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for Bike Rack For 2014 Audi A6
We only have one hitch that's a confirmed fit for your 2014 Audi A6, the Curt part # C11423. This hitch does require fascia trimming though. The most popular bike rack we carry that has been confirmed to fit this vehicle is the Thule Camber 2 part # TH9058. We asked our demo and install guys to name their favorite, most easy-to-use bike racks and this one showed up in nearly everyone's top three. Check out the review video I attached for more info. • What Does Trailer Hitch Look Like Installed on 2016 Audi A6
I attached a picture that shows what the Curt hitch part # C11423 looks like installed on a 2016 Audi A6 like yours. This will most likely take right at an hour for a shop to install so most likely you'd get charged one shop hour. If you need a bike rack my favorite is the Saris SuperClamp EX part # SA4025F because it's a platform bike rack which means it's easy to load/unload, it's light weight at only 35 lbs, it's made in the USA, and it only touches the bikes at the tires.

  • Purpose of Curt Stabilizing Strap # 18050
In order to satisfy Curt warranty requirements, any of their Class I or II receivers (like the C11423 you referenced) as well as a few of their Class III hitches must be used with a stabilizing strap like part # 18050. This applies to any non-trailer loads like a bike rack or cargo carrier. Curt has this warranty provision because of the lower tongue weight capacities of Class I and II hitches. The strap prevents any bouncing of the bike rack or other hitch mounted accessory from damaging...

  • 2014 A6 Quattro Hitch Recommendation for Bike Rack
For your 2014 Audi A6 we have the Curt hitch part # C11423 that is a confirmed fit and would work well for carrying a bike rack. I attached a picture that shows the hitch installed on a similar 2014 Audi A6 as well. Curt requires the use of their stabilizer strap part # 18050 when using their hitch to carry a non-supported load like a bike rack. I attached a review video for you to check for the strap as well. • Recommended Trailer Wiring Harness on a 2014 Audi A6
We do not carry a custom wiring kit for your 2014 Audi A6. I recommend using the ZCI Circuit Protected Wiring Harness # 119250KIT on your Audi. This is a universal harness that does not require any splicing. Instead, it uses sensors that clamp around the car's wires to read the current that travels through the wire. I've attached an install video for you to take a look at. If you don't already have a htich reciever on your A6, the Curt # C11423 is a Class I receiver confirmed to fit....

  • Trailer Hitch for a 2014 Audi A6 Quattro TDI
Curt does list trailer hitch # C11423 as a fit for all models of the 2014 Audi A6 Quattro! I have included a link to the installation instructions for you. If you want to use the hitch for an accessory such as a bike rack or cargo carrier then you have to make sure the accessory is rated for use with a Class I trailer hitch. Also, with a bike rack, you are limited to 2 bikes maximum on a Class I hitch. Curt also says you have to use stabilization strap # 18050 when using this hitch for...

  • Does Support Strap Have to Be Used When Carrying Bike Rack with Curt Hitch # C11423
I'll be the first to admit that the stabilizer strap requirement for Curt hitches like the part # C11423 is a hassle that most wish was avoidable. If you have the strap tight enough that it's damaging the vehicle then you'd want to back of the tightness to prevent that. Now if you had the strap reasonably tight but the rack bounced so hard that it damaged the hatch then the strap did it's job as it prevented the shock from damaging the frame of the vehicle. We have to recommend you use...

  • Ground Clearance of Curt Trailer Hitch On 2015 Audi A6
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11423 while installed on a 2015 Audi A6 will provide around 7-1/2" of ground clearance. This will be fine for most hitch mounted accessories like bike racks but for cargo carriers you'll want to look for options with a built-in rise. In regards to towing, it should not be a problem but it really comes down to several other factors so it's hard to say. That said, there really isn't anything you can do to increase this so just keep that in mind when...

  • 2016 Audi A6 Quattro Trailer Hitch Recommendation
For your 2016 Audi A6 we have the Curt hitch part # C11423 that is a confirmed fit and would work well for you. For trailer wiring the best option is the ZCI kit part # 119250KIT which instead of requiring you to hardwire into your veicles trailer wiring uses sensors instead which makes for an easier, less-invasive install. • Can the Thule OutWay Be Used for One 40 Lb Bike on a 2016 Audi A6
I do have an option for you but all trunk mounted bike racks like the Thule OutWay 2-Bike Platform Rack part # TH65JV have a 33 lb per bike weight capacity. The cradles for each bike are only rated for 33 lbs so I cannot recommend you use it with a 40 lb bike. If you cannot get the weight of your bike down to 35 lbs then your best option would be to place it on a hitch mounted bike rack, the Kuat Transfer 1 Bike Platform Rack part # KU64FR with a trailer hitch, the Curt Trailer Hitch...

  • Is a Stabilizer Strap Needed for the Class III Curt Trailer Hitch for a 2015 Subaru Forester
The Class III Curt Trailer Hitch # C13144 does require the use of a stabilizer strap like part # 18050 to comply with the warranty. Instead of going with the Curt option I recommend using the etrailer.com Trailer Hitch # e98839 or the Draw-Tite # 75876 which give you a Class III trailer hitch with a 2" receiver as well. The light-duty Curt Class I hitch you referenced, part # C11423 for the 2015 Audi A6, does require some minor fascia trimming. I understand that since you are leasing the car you clearly do not want any issues when its time to turn it back in. You could simply remove the rear fascia and keep it until its time to return the vehicle. It is held on by 3 screws. I realize this may not be the most pleasing idea for aesthetic reasons but it does avoid the issue of having to deal with returning...

We do offer bike carrying options for as 2019 Audi A6, but unfortunately none of our vendors offer a trailer hitch for your vehicle at this time. So, the remaining options are a trunk mount or a roof mounted rack, neither of which you were too thrilled about. Between the two options, I'd be much more inclined to choose a roof mounted carrying option as the roof racks are custom designed to fit a given vehicle. Because of this, they fit tightly and won't move around possibly causing damage...

You will not be able to open the trunk of your 2012 Audi A6 with a trunk rack like the Saris Bones part # SA805BL installed. The hinges aren't rated for the additional weight and the struts won't hold the trunk up either so it would come slamming down which would be dangerous, plus the clips that go over the trunk would get pinched as the trunk opens.
