Can the Thule OutWay Be Used for One 40 Lb Bike on a 2016 Audi A6

Hi, I’m interested in carrying one 40 lbs bike, never 2 bikes. Will that work if I carry it closest to the vehicle? If not Is any trunk mount rated for a 40lbs. bike?

I do have an option for you but all trunk mounted bike racks like the Thule OutWay 2-Bike Platform Rack part # TH65JV have a 33 lb per bike weight capacity. The cradles for each bike are only rated for 33 lbs so I cannot recommend you use it with a 40 lb bike.
If you cannot get the weight of your bike down to 35 lbs then your best option would be to place it on a hitch mounted bike rack, the Kuat Transfer 1 Bike Platform Rack part # KU64FR with a trailer hitch, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11423. This option may require more initial setup but it will be a better longer term option and the trailer hitch can be used for several other purposes.
