Two pictures of the final install. Bolted right up zip/zap/zunk and done yeoman service in the several months since.

Only caveat is that when installing on a vehicle that's all ready been through a decade of New England winters, you must take extra care scrubbing out the threaded holes under the rear bumper support (for the long vertical bolts). Fortunately, I had been forewarned and was prepared to put a lot of extra effort into this - and it paid off. Yet it was STILL quite a challenge to get them torqued up all the way.

Well I definitely look to your company when I need something but unfortunately this hitch came with less than 1/2 required hardware to install. I have called and was assured that the parts will be shipped out promptly. I have been planning to install asap when arriving but I'll be waiting for the installation parts

Great product works as expected and still looks great. Easy installation after receipt of required hardware.

New hitch bolted right up. I only plan to use for a bike rack. Took about 20 mins to install. I was installing by myself so used a floor jack to lift into place while I bolted it up. My Baja was from CA so clean underneath but I still cleaned out the threaded bolt holes just to make sure I had no issues.

The video and instructions were spot on and installation was simple. I bought a bottle brush for the Subaru nuts as they were rusty and dirty. I followed the video instructions and sprayed penetrating oil and brushed it several times. It took several insertions and withdrawals with adding cutting oil to get the bolts in.
The Subaru Baja has a trailer light port already built it so it was just plug and plan. Between etrailer and Subaru, this was the easiest installation of a hitch I have ever done.

Fit was not the greatest. Also, long bolts seemed to be a little too long.

by:

Looks good. Quick and easy bolt on install.

by:

Great easy to put on

by:

OK arrived a little beat up ups isn't nice to packages

by:

The box with everything in it was never opened. When they went to installl it. They found where somebody had sheet metal and relrivets and then covered with undercoating to cover rot or rust. So it is still sitting around. I’ll be back to order from you at some point. I have not had god luck with vehicles of late. I’m actively looking for one.
Thank you and take care
Angela pad.

Nuts and bolts were taped to the hitch, no lost or missing bolts. The long bolts are too long and the torque needed to get it snugged up snapped the prewelded nut off the bumper. Hence the missing star. Highly recommend 2 people to equip it.

The hitch is a fit for a 2003-2006 Subaru Baha. Once a vehicle is more than a few years old, dirt, road debris and corrosion can build up on the nuts welded into the frame. Its a good idea to completely clean the threads, in some cases its necessary to re-tap the nut so the bolts install as they should.

by:

This fit straight , just a bit of lube on the mounting bolts, too bad there wasn't a 2" available it would save using an adapter for my accessories.

by:

The hitch arrived yesterday in fine shape, and my wife and I installed it in the evening. As always, I am happy with the quality of your product, the packaging was better than usual, and it arrived more quickly than I had expected.

I have used your hitches on several vehicles, and they always fit and perform well. I am happy to say that I am a repeat customer.

Great product because of a great fit on my Baja. An easy-to-follow diagram made for an easy installation. The hardest step was cleaning out 12 years of road grime and rust from the weld nuts. Be sure to watch the video on how to clean them!
I plan on using this for towing a light utility trailer.

by:

Not only was the install clear and easy. The time it took to arrive was above and beyond. Will come back to this site based on the communication and ease of shipment.

Great Products, extremely fast shipping.
Wiring Kit was a little Tricky but of course it had to be a cool custom application Incorporating the neat little rear plate function that Baja owners have.

by:
2003 Subaru Baja

  • Is a 2 Trailer Hitch Available for a 2003 Subaru Baja
While we do have a Curt # C11280 are 1-1/4" Class I trailer hitches. If you wanted a 2" receiver you need to use the Brophy Hitch Extender # HES0 but this cuts the weight ratings of the trailer hitch by 50% which means your limited to 1,000 lbs towing/100 lbs tongue weight. Since this is less than ideal, I recommend using an accessory that fits a Class I trailer hitch receiver. If you let me know what you plan on using the trailer hitch for, I can make additional recommendations as necessary. Attached...

  • Trailer Hitch for 2005 Subaru Baja
You're correct, the # 24735 has been discontinued by Draw-Tite, and is no longer available. The Curt # C11280 is very similar and would install in the same manner as shown in the video you referenced. Really the only difference between the hitches is that the Curt # C11280 uses a reinforcing ring around the receiver opening, and the Draw-Tite does not. The hitch has a 2000 lb towing/200 lb tongue weight capacity, so in order to tow your boat, you'll need to sure it doesn't exceed 2000...

  • How Much Can a 2005 Subaru Baja Tow
The towing capacity of 2005 Subaru Baja is listed as 1,000 lbs for trailers without brakes or 2,400 lbs for trailers with brakes. In order to tow a trailer you will need a trailer hitch like the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11280, a trailer wiring harness like the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness part # HM11143875, and a ball mount/hitch ball like the Draw-Tite Drawbar part # 3590 with the 2" Hitch Ball part # 19258 and Pin and Clip part # PC2. Since the # C11280 hitch...

  • Compatible Trailer Hitch for Bike Rack on 2006 Subaru Baja
Your 2006 Subaru Baja is only compatible with a Class I hitch, like the Curt Trailer Hitch # C11280, which has a 1-1/4 inch receiver so it will not be able to carry the Thule rack you already have without the use of a 1/4 to 2 inch hitch adapter like part # HTAD. Using the hitch adapter will allow you to use your Thule rack that you have that fits a 2-inch receiver. However, using a hitch adapter will reduce the maximum tongue weight of your hitch by 50 percent. The maximum tongue weight...

  • What is the Torque Settings to Install the Curt Trailer Hitch item # C11280?
110 ft lbs. I checked the installation instructions for the Curt Trailer Hitch item # C11280 and it states all hardware needs to be torqued to 110 ft-lbs. I have linked these instructions below. The Curt Trailer Hitch item # C11280 is confirmed to fit the 2004 Subaru Baja.

  • Is the # 11280 Hitch for Subaru Baja The Same as a Dealer Installed Hitch
If you have a 2003 to 2007 Subaru Baja, the Curt Trailer Hitch, item # 11280, will fit and should install in basically the same location as an OEM hitch. As far as it being the same hitch that the dealer will install, one cannot be sure. Many dealers save on cost by purchasing aftermarket hitches and installing them rather than installing OEM products. You will need to contact the dealer to see what brand of trailer hitch they will install on your vehicle if you get one from them. Installation...

  • Will Curt Trailer Hitch # C11280 Fit My 2005 Subaru Baja
The Curt, part # C11280, is a confirmed fir for all models of the 2003-2006 models of the Subaru Baja. I have included a link to the instructions for you to look through.

  • Capacity of Hitches Made for 2003 Subaru Baja
Trailer hitch manufacturers design hitches for vehicles to more or less match the vehicle's own capacities. There would be no value to put a hitch with a higher capacity on a vehicle that cannot offer the same weight/towing capacity. In the case of your 2003 Subaru Baja the vehicle's own weight capacities are such that only light-duty Class I hitches are made for it. A Class I hitch can handle a compatible Class I hitch rack of up to 2-bike capacity (but no more than 2) like the Curt...
