There is no drilling required to install Curt trailer hitch # C11258 on your 2013 Chevy Sonic. Installation is estimated between 1/2 hour and 1-1/2 hours depending on your level of ability and whether or not you have someone to help. You will not have to remove or trim anything either. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you.
If you will be using the hitch for hitch mount accessories such as a bike rack or cargo carrier you will need to make sure that the chosen accessory is compatible with a Class I trailer hitch. For bike racks you are limited to 2 bikes. And Curt states that you will need to use a stabilization strap, # 18050, for any non-trailer loads such as bike racks or cargo carriers. The strap reduces some of the stress on the hitch.
If you want to use the hitch for towing then consult the vehicle owners manual to determine if the vehicle can be used for towing. If so then the correct ball mount is # C45521. For a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256 and for a 2 inch ball use # 19258. And for trailer wiring use # 118640.
