I do maintenance for a living, this could be done by anyone. 30 Min.
Use a piece of cardboard to lay on.

The install was what I expected, given the good instructions. I took my time and the receiver fit into place well. Unlike some other reviewers, I did not have a problem with the muffler being too close to the receiver frame. I have found that removing push pins (even with the appropriate tool) often means one cannot reuse them. I had new push pins on hand to replace the ones that were no longer usable. The fit is clean and unobtrusive. I plan to use the receiver for a bike rack only.

Product came soon and packed well. I was rather happy with the directions and ease of installation. I did it in my garage with floor jack and two jackstands. From beginning to end I was done in about two hours.

It took a little bit of tweaking of the right side hanger for the exhaust muffler(pictured) but because of the great advice on the crz forums and YouTube, there is absolutely zero rubbing now. You only have to tweak the right side muffler hanger. Grout a set of vice grips and bend it towards the right side of the car, this way the hanger well move the muffler slightly to the right and will not touch the tow hitch.

The only tricky part was getting a circular file to file down the hole a bit larger so that it would accommodate the bolts and nuts and screw in perfectly. It’s great how this design bolts directly to the car without any welding cutting or drilling. Just a little bit of elbow grease when it comes to filing with a circular file. Don’t do it with a flat square file! Best part =1.5-2 hours from getting all the needed tools and then putting everything away isn’t bad at all!

I plan on using it for commuting to work with my bicycle as I tend to cycle on my lunch break. And there’s nowhere safe to store my bike at work, so I have to lug it with me every morning while the weather is good. I bought a two bike trailer hitch rack and seems to be perfect. I have a pull pin that’s easily removable if I need to open up my hatch. By the way, your hatch cannot open unless you have a tilt type of rack. This is due to the way the hedge is designed, it’s nice and tucked away underneath the bumper so it’s very convenient and not too noticeable.

I've owned it for about a year now and this thing works amazing. A bit tricky to install but nothing crazy. Anyone with little skills could do this following their instructions.

I’ll be using it to carry a Kuat Betta bike rack on a Honda CRZ.

Just fine. I use it to put my hitch bike rack. Lift the hatch without tilting it.

Great fit easy install! Curt hitch with 4 inch rise 2" hitch adapter.

Easy installation.
Instructions were
a bit off, but no big deal.

Communication of of shipment was great. All parts, instructions were in a heavy duty bag that kept all hardware there. Wire for the bolts worked awesome. Hitch fit well. Thanks a bunch!

Went on fairly easy with the car on a lift. Didn’t have to modify anything. Except file down the bars that sit inside the frame behind the main bolts because they didn’t fit through the existing 1” hole. They needed just 1/32 cleared off the long sides.

by:

Hitch is great, fit my Kuat single bike rack perfectly - glad I splurged on the professional installation as getting it onto a CRZ is a little tricky.

Hitch works great. Because the car is so small and there is not a lot of room, it does touch the muffler and it rattles, but given that Honda probably never envisioned a hitch on a CRZ Ill take it. Love the convenience of being able to carry one bike.

by:

Fit prefect and installation was easy. Didn’t need the nuts supplied. Unfortunately it’s so close to the tailpipe it vibrates off of it and the noise is annoying. Going to have to fab a bracket to keep is away.

by:

Installing it wasn't bad, however the center piece that attaches around the tow hook could not be tightened all the way because there is a very small space that does not allow the bolt to tighten all the way. I need to get a shim of a couple thousandths and try again. The problem is that the tongue weight shifts this point up an down as you ride over bumps. I imagine you could just reef on it if I had it on a lift with a cheater bar but I was in my yard and could only get a 1/2" socket on it with ground clearance not allowing much of a cheater bar. From experience these hitches rust right out here in the northeast usa. I pre painted everything with plasti-dip to at least try and get 10 years out of it before it just scales away. The hitch works and instructions we great. Wish they made them out of corrosion resistant metal. One really bad thing was the shipper just threw the heavy receiver hitch in the box with the hitch which ended up dinging up the black paint job by the time I received it. That could have been avoided easily if the packer even cared.

You don’t have to take the lower trim off the bumper, easily bolts right up but make sure you drill out the bigger holes you are putting the bolts through so the heads and brackets can fit in and drop down the small holes to mount

Had an issue with delivery (not the company's fault but rather covid19 prevented me from receiving my hitch), anywho, the customer service here is top notch and the hitch fits perfectly!
Thanks!

Great fit, easy install, and fast shipp ing.

by:

Great product, super easy install. Only issue is that it touches the muffle and pushes it over about a quarter inch and now makes a rattling sound.

by:

Good product at a good price.

  • Solution for Newly Installed Trailer Hitch that is Hitting Muffler on Vehicle
The issue you are describing is actually not terribly uncommon. Occasionally, a newly installed trailer hitch will come very close or make contact with a vehicle's exhaust system, even when everything is installed properly. We actually have a great article that addresses this exact problem, along with some suggested methods for resolving it, which I have attached below. I recommend seeing if you can use a pair of vice grips to simply bend the exhaust hangers a bit at various points to...

  • Solution for Carrying Motorcycle With 2013 Honda CR-Z
That carrier requires a Class III or higher hitch with a 2" receiver, which is stated in the information on the product page. That is also what would be required to handle the weight of the carrier and motorcycle. Even if there was such a hitch for your vehicle, you will far exceed the vehicle tongue weight capacity with that 566 lbs. I don't think you want the carrier and the motorcycle to fall off in the middle of the road while driving. If you want to carry your motorcycle with your...

  • What Trimming is Required to Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2013 Honda CR-Z
According to the instructions for Curt trailer hitch # C11077 you will need to trim the underbody panels to remove the area where plastic clips attach the panel to the frame rails. I have linked the instructions and also included a picture from them showing the area to trim. If you plan on doing any towing with this hitch keep in mind that the gross trailer weight capacity is 1,000 pounds and the tongue weight capacity is 100 pounds. Consult the owners manual to determine what the tow...

  • Trailer Hitch Availability for 2013 Honda CR-Z
My research on the 2013 Honda CR-Z shows that it was not designed to tow anything. You'd want to confirm this by checking with your Honda dealer or checking the owners manual. That being said we offer a hitch for your vehicle as there is a demand for it. We have the Curt part # C11077 which has a pretty low towing capacity of 1,000 lbs total trailer weight and 100 lbs tongue weight. Typically hitch towing capacities are higher than the vehicle capacities so I would not recommend towing...

  • Hitch Mount Bike Rack Recomendations for a Class I Trailer Hitch on a 2011 CRZ
You should have a Class I trailer hitch on your 2011 Honda CRZ because the only hitches available for your vehicle are Class I, 1-1/4 inches, however, stranger things have happened so by measuring the receiver opening you will be sure. Class I hitches have a 2 bike limit and up to a 200 lb tongue weight capacity for any hitch mounted accessory. The tongue weight capacity is the maximum amount of weight that can be carried on a hitch. This figure should be available either in your owners...

  • How to Locate Rattling with the Curt Trailer Hitch # C11077 on a 2011 Honda CR-Z
It is difficult to determine what is causing a rattling noise without actually being able to see the vehicle, but I can give you some tips on where to look if you are comfortable crawling under your vehicle to look at the hitch. The alternative would be to take your vehicle to another local trailer hitch installer to have them inspect the installation. If you are anywhere near Wentzville, MO, we would be happy too take a look at it for you. If you are comfortable looking under your...

  • Will Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11077 Fit The 2014 Honda CRZ "EX Model
Yes, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11077 is confirmed fit for 2014 Honda CR-Z. I verified with my contact at Curt manufacturing that you will have no issues installing # C11077 on the EX model. There is no drilling required for installation. The access holes may need to be enlarged by drilling, filing, or rotary tool. The exhaust must be temporarily lowered for installation. There is underbody trimming required (not fascia). • Hitch Recommendation for a 2015 Honda CR-Z
The Curt Hitch part # C11077 that you referenced has been confirmed to fit your 2015 Honda CR-Z so I would recommend it for you. For a ball mount you would want the # C45520, and then for hitch balls # 19256 and # 19258.

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2013 Honda CR-Z
Hitch mounted motorcycle carriers require 2 inch trailer hitches installed on the vehicle which aren't available for smaller vehicles like your 2013 Honda CR-Z. The Curt Hitch part # C11077 is a confirmed fit for your vehicle and would allow you to tow a small trailer for the motorcycle but it's not strong enough to support the weight of a motorcycle plus a carrier. You'd need trailer wiring part # C59496, ball mount # C45520, and hitch ball part # A-82 to do this as well.
