The hinge pins were difficult to find, but as usual, etrailer had them available! They are exactly what I needed, and the hinge steel is better than what the trailer came with!

  • Removing Rusted Hinge Pin on Trailer
    You can try heating the nipple with a torch and then using a punch to drive out the pin. Be gentle with the heat, as the idea is to get the nipple to expand without heating the pin to the extent that it expands as well. When driving the pin out, be careful not to mushroom the end of the pin. For multiple hinges, you might have to remove the pins a little at a time. If that does not work, you will have to use an angle grinder to remove the nipple and pin completely, then start over with...

    I went out to the warehouse with some digital calipers to measure the inner and outer diameters of Hinge Pin Nipple # HPN214. The inner diameter of the nipple is 0.52 inches. The outer diameter of the nipple is 0.754 inches. Keep in mind that due to manufacturer tolerances these measurements can vary slightly from one nipple to the next.     The 1/2 Inch Diameter Hinge Pin Nipple # HPN214 referenced in your question will work perfectly with the 1/2 Inch Diameter Hinge Pin # HP412. I actually went out to our warehouse to test the two items together and the fit is not too tight at all. We have measured the inner diameter of the hinge pin nipple with a digital caliper in the past and found a true diameter of right at 0.52 inches, making it compatible with a 1/2 inch hinge pin.

    You will not have to purchase 1/2 inch Diameter Hinge Pin Nipple # HPN214 to install a 1/2 inch Diameter Greasable Hinge Pin # HP12412G. The # HP12412G already comes with a base with a grease fitting, so the # HPN214 would not be necessary. Check out the pic I attached that shows the grease zerk fitting on the # HP12412G
