Today we're going to take a look at the Taylor made, 15 inch long, Steel Gas Shock. Now this Gas Shock's designed to replace a worn out or damaged shock on your dock box or both hatch. This one's a nice coated, annealed, steel rod, which provides corrosion resistance, so it's perfect for high saltwater areas. Does easily install in minutes. There's no special tools required and when you do install this, you do want to make sure that this inner rod is facing down. It is recommended to replace these gas shocks in pairs, and the connection type on this gas shock, on both ends, is a 10 millimeter ball socket.When you go to install these, let me just zoom in so you can see more detail here.

On each end they use a retaining clip to hold it to the ball and basically on your old shock to remove it, you just take a flat tip screwdriver, slide it under that retaining clip, pry it up, that'll pop up, release the pressure, and then you can take the old shock off the ball.Then when you go to put your new one on, do the same thing, raise that clip up, and then once you pop it on the ball, just push that clip down. It'll secure it to the ball. So, very simple installation. Length on this, length is always measured from the center of this ball socket to the center of this one. So if we put the ruler or the tape measure on this, center to center, is right at 15 inches.
