How Tall Is The Standard Height Hitch Ball For A Ford Puck System

Published 06/13/2019

Question:

Been towing my gooseneck horse trlr 15 yrs with 2000 F250 short bed turnover ball no issues. Truck Tboned now having to replace. Issue: unhitched there is only 3 inch clearance between rooftop AC and rafters. Must find a truck to install hitch that will fit under GN in current position. I measured distance from bottom of hitch to floor 37 but need height of ball from flush with bed. Seems 2 5/16 is standard ball diam but high 5 1/8 vs what would be standard height? Diagram of clearances between truck and trailer very helpful. New trucks too high beds and sides!

The Curt Pop-In Ball for Factory Underbed Gooseneck Hitches part # C60629 is 5-1/8" from the base where it sits on the bed floor to the top of the hitch ball. However, this hitch ball has a taller base than normal. I am not sure there is an exact standard height for all gooseneck hitch balls but we do have the Curt Pop-In Ball for Factory Underbed Gooseneck Hitches part # C60601 which has more of a standard base and only measures 4" from the base where it sits on the bed floor to the top of the hitch ball. I am not sure we would have anything else that offers less height so I would say this is more or less standard height.
