How To Remove Stuck Curt Pop-In Ball C60601 From 2018 Ram Truck
Updated 03/30/2021 | Published 03/27/2021 >
Question:
We bought a 2018 ram truck and the hitch is stuck. We were able to loose the lever on top and able to turn it and can see it’s physically turning but arent able to fleet it out, we were reading online and there was something about the plug in the bottom with a flat bar that’s in the down position. Does this need to be pushed up to manually release it. We have also use a ton of lubricant on it as well. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Since the Curt Pop-In Ball for Factory Ford and Ram Underbed Gooseneck Hitches - 2-5/16" Diameter Ball # C60601 you have in your 2018 Ram has been lubricated, I recommend removing the rubber plug you mentioned at the bottom of the ball and manually turn the paddle to release the pressure on the ball bearings.
It is possible that if the ball has been in the truck for some time that corrosion is holding the bearings out and not allowing them to retract easily. You may need to use a hammer to hit the ball out from the bottom.
Once you get the ball out I recommend cleaning up any corrosion around the bearings to get them back to going in and out easily.
I included a video of the # C60601 for you to take a look at.
