Are the Gooseneck Hitch Balls the Same for a GM and Ram Puck System

Updated 01/19/2026 | Published 05/15/2020

Question:

Is the ball interchangeable between GM and Ram puck System

Helpful Expert Reply:

Yes, the pop-in style gooseneck trailer hitch balls are cross compatible between the different factory puck systems from Ford, Ram, GM, and Nissan. For this, we have a few options such as the Curt Pop-In Ball part # C60629 which has a rise built-in or the Curt Pop-In Ball part # C60601 which does not.

@Scott GM's factory puck systems are designed with slight looseness to prevent the ball from seizing in the under-bed receiver so some play is normal and not a defect. It could also be dirty or have been damaged. How old is your B&W gooseneck ball and has there always been this much play in it? Are there any visible signs of damage?
