It gave me the parts I needed for my 1988 Chevy two-wheel drive 3500 truck. I had to cut the sides off of it trim about 2 in off each side and weld it back together. Was NOT a direct fit sadly.

Huh, that is odd. Per the manufacturer, this hitch should have been a confirmed fit for the 1988 3500 Chevy truck. Can you please provide the VIN number or at least the model information?

@KatrinaD 1988 Chevy dump truck custom deluxe 30. I would have liked to have gotten something that I didn't have to fabricate. But it's no problem for me, others it might be. I had to cut approximately 2 in off each side reuse the flanges for the mounting points and weld it all back together. Really there was nothing in the way once I had shortened it it fit perfectly slipped right in and out.

@DavidS Huh, the manufacturer stated that, that was not enough information. Can you please provide the VIN of the truck, it seems that the information you provided was missing the model description. It may be a possibility that your truck will not have a confirmed hitch that will fit, especially with the age of the vehicle.

@KatrinaD I am sorry I don't have that information available I'm actually in Alaska right now. I can tell you it's a 1988 (early 88, so it's my understanding that they used a hodge podge of parts from 87/88) 1988 c30 custom deluxe (but last owner referred to it as R30?), probably sold as a cab and chassis. It is a dump truck.

I have installed this hitch on a 2wd 1991 chevy 3500 with no problems. The quality, workmanship, and ease of installation was far better than I expected. I will use this product as an anchor point during vehicle recovery. Thanks to this product my truck is now more useful than before.

    For your 1992 C1500 pickup truck you would want either the Curt Hitch part # 31042 that you referenced or the Draw Tite Front Hitch part # 65005 that will hang higher than the Curt. The # 31043 is for 2500 and 3500 series C Series trucks so it would not work for you. The # 65005 will require fascia trimming and drilling for installation. Since the Curt hitch hangs lower it would not require that the fascia be trimmed.

  • Recommended Front Hitch for a 2000 GMC Sierra 3500
    Jason, unfortunately it looks like there are no bolt on front hitches for a 2000 GMC Sierra 3500. Your best bet would be to use a universal hitch like the Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs # C13702 which will fit on frames that are 18" to 51" wide. This wouldn't be a bolt on install but will still work the same. We do also have the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # 31042 for a 4WD and # 31043 for a 2WD that will work with the "C" or "K" 3500's respectively.
