Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

The front hitch solved a storage problem that I was having with my truck camper. It fit perfectly. I added a Stow Away hitch frame and a UWS small aluminum storage box for my small generator. The photo shows a test fit before installation.

This was one of the easiest accessories I’ve installed on my Tundra. It is a front receiver hitch so I don’t use it very often. Mostly just for bike racks when towing a trailer, but when you need it you need it.

It’s been a year and I was right, I don’t use it very often. It works great for bike racks when towing a trailer, but honestly that doesn’t come up much and don’t don’t do it at night, the headlights don’t make it through the bikes very well ask me how I know. It makes positioning a trailer super easy if you have to get it just right into a spot.

@Jonathan Thanks for the feedback! Glad you're getting some use out of the front hitch. What kind of bike rack do you have?

These is an excellent hitch at an excellent price. The install was easy and all the hardware that is needed is in the box. I chose the Drawtite over the Curt because the receiver end is a little longer. It' not even noticeable on the truck. I have a snow plow that attaches to the hitch. The Toyota cap shown in the picture was not included. The Tundra is a 2020 so I can confirm if fits.

Hitch has been working as expected. After one year it still looks as good as when I installed it. They use alot of road salt where I live but the hitch has no rust on it.

Well built and the installation was eas y!

by:

Front hitch fit perfectly. I tow my RV with my rear hitch and needed a way to tow our bikes. This hitch fills that need. Would definitely order another hitch from Etrailer.

by:

We use this with an aluminum rack to haul a Honda 150cc scooter when we go camping. The only negative is how low it is -- ended up buying a 2" riser/extension which made it much more functional. Not really the fault of the hitch, just the reality of the mounting points. If you end up needing a riser make sure you get one with the proper weight rating as some are just made for lightweight bicycle racks.

I received my order in 2 days. Installed it 5 days later. Perfect fit. I used my floor jack to raise it into place and installed bolts. I had a technical question about the correct torque value. Called E-Trailer and was promptly answered by Rebecca. She gave me the information I needed and I finished the installation. I haven't tried to use it yet. Very pleased. This is my second order from E-Trailer and I highly recommend them.

Everything is good. I cut a 4.5 inch hole in my Tundras draft shield to access the oil filter. Changed oil recently and it worked very well. Still recommend product.

by:

Yes , my 2019 tundra is beach ready and the fishing rods are not broken.... with the front hitch and rod cooler on the front the 4x4 on the beach is that much easier. Yes 3 friends are looking at doing the same setup. I added a flag to remind me there is 3 extra feet in front of the truck when the rods are not in the holders.

We have a truck camper, and needed more room for our camping equipment. Purchased this front hitch from etrailer, and it has been awesome. Have used it to carry our generator, and bought a cargo tray that we use also. Love it! Thanks!

by:

I love it. it showed up on time, easy to install and it fit like a glove.i highly recommend etrailer, and will buy from them again.
P.S. Good prices also.

Best price, no shipping. Arrived a day early. Perfect fit. Very pleased.

Installation wasn't very difficult. I was very happy to add a hitch to the front of my truck. I installed to be able to put a hitch mounted winch or bike rack. The pictures others have posted how it sits on the truck. I found that it sits to far back from the bumper for my needs. Everything I need to attach needs and extension to clear the bumper. I wouldn't repurchase and install if I knew. The hitch itself is manufactured well and works as expected for a bolt on application.

2012 Toyota Tundra

For my 2012 Toyoda Tundra, the installation is very simple and straight forward. Remove the 4 bolts holding the 2 front tow hooks in place. Position the new front hitch between the tow hooks and the frame, then install the 4 new bolts. The hitch is now directly bolted to the truck frame and the tow hooks are still usable.

Toyota Tundra

Hello I just installed my front hitch on my 2020 Toyota Tundra. It was a perfect fit as advertised.
Although I did remove the skid plate permanently, which I don't plan any off-roading and it will make oil changes much simpler. The box in which the hitch was shipped was heavily damaged, and oversize for this hitch. There was no damage to the product, however if the instructions, safety sheet, and the hardware were not taped in the hitch tube they surely would have been lost and I would have been Cranky. A nice product and easy installation !

  • Is Skid Shield Trimming Required if Door is Present to Access Oil Filter on 2021 Toyota Tundra
The Draw-Tite Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # 65080 is designed to fit the Toyota Tundra starting with the 2007 model. It is likely that the door for oil filter access you're referencing on your 2021 was added later or is present in certain trim packages so the instructions don't reflect it. As long as you are able to access the oil filter there is no need to cut the 4" hole.

  • Front Hitch Installation On A 2022 Toyota Tundra
If your 2022 Toyota Tundra does not have tow hooks then don't worry about that part of the instructions. If you had tow hooks they would be removed to install the front mount hitch and then reattached. When installing the front mount hitch you will have to cut a 4 inch diameter hole on the skid shield to be able to install the Draw-Tite front hitch # 65080. I attached a diagram below of where to cut.

Starting with the tow hooks, those will remain on your 2020 Toyota Tundra when installing the Draw-Tite Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # 65080. They will be temporarily removed, but will be bolted back on. In regards to the hole, there is a small hole you will need to enlarge in the skid shield to allow for access to the oil filter.
