Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look at the Curt heavy-duty forged ball mount for a 2-inch hitch with a 2 5/16 ball and a 6-inch drop. Now the glory of this ball mount here is it does come with the ball and the ball's actually gonna be pre-torqued onto there. And that's something that people don't really consider until they have to torque down their ball because you need a torque wrench that's gonna have that torque setting that's gonna go high enough and also a socket that can fit on here. And a lot of times you're trying to use a wrench on top and torque this down, so it can be a little bit tricky to make sure that they're properly torqued. So having this already torqued down is one less step that you'll have to do. Now, this is a 6-inch drop.
Now you do have the availability for a 5-inch rise, which is gonna open it up to the different applications that you can use this for. You are gonna have to actually get that ball re-torqued and flip it around. But to have that ability available is really nice. Speaking of applications, this is pretty heavy duty, as the name implies. The ball, as well as the ball mount, are rated for 15,000 pounds with a tongue weight rating of 1500.
So it's pretty heavy duty. You just need to make sure that your truck can actually handle that weight as well as the hitch on the vehicle. Now the ball mount is solid steel construction and the ball is a steel construction as well with a chrome finish. Now this black powder coat carbide finish is matte and it looks really sharp and it's gonna be looking sharp for a long time as it's gonna resist corrosion and rust. Now, the pin and clip is not included with the ball mount but we do have plenty of options here available at etrailer including locking ones, and that way you can actually lock this in place and know that no one's gonna walk away with it in their hands.
Now we're lowering our coupler on our trailer, which is the 2 5/16, to our ball mount right here. Now, if you do have different trailers that have a different coupler size, you can actually get a different ball to go on this same ball mount. You're just gonna wanna make sure that it has that same inch and a quarter hole diameter and you should be able to swap those out and then re-torque them down, you'll be ready to go. So now with our trailer loaded up and our safety chains hooked up as well as our electrical, we're ready to tow. And that was a look at the Curt heavy-duty forged ball mount for a 2-inch hitch with a 2 5/16 ball and a 6-inch drop..
