Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Overall good product, work as intended. Only thing I would change is the ground eyelet. Im not drilling into tge body of my car for a rust area later in it's life. I added a larger eyelet and put the ground on the hitch mount bolt. 526790

The tech film showed the Tech dropping a wire down threw a hole and EASILY pulling the end sockets up to the light. On the 2019 Flex there is no hole, so I added one an the rest of the installation took about 20 twenty minutes, very nice product. 850815

This wiring harness worked perfectly for my Ford Flex. Fishing the wires down through the bodywork was a challenge, but once the job was done it functioned perfectly and allowed me to tow a trailer that I rented. Hopefully, the harness will pass the test of time. I haven’t used it again, but the installation is neat and seems weather resistant. Overall, a very useful product for a good price. 814631

Ford Flex

I did not want to "chop up" the lighting wiring on my Flex when I got my trailer, so I looked around for a solution. etrailer had the exact kit I needed to wire up my trailer connector, so I purchased and installed it myself. Each part fit where it needed to, and the end result worked just as it should. I probably went a little overboard to get the crossover wiring tucked up out of the way (I removed the rear bumper to tie the wires up across the subframe). 745953

Ask the Experts about this Tekonsha Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring

  • Does Tekonsha Trailer Wiring for 2019 Ford Flex Have Capacity to Power LED Trailer Wiring
Yes, the taillight circuits of your 2019 Ford Flex will handle the amperage draw of the trailer LED taillights you have after you install the # 118472. We do have the Curt version part # C56343 which actually draws power for the trailer taillights from the vehicle battery as an option as well. If your trailer had incandescent bulbs or you wanted to be extra cautious in general this would be the way to go.

  • Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2013 Ford Flex with LED Tail Lights
Tekonsha wiring harness # 118472 does indeed fit your 2013 Ford Flex with LED tail lights. The older Curt trailer wiring harnesses did tend to have the exact problem you are describing. The newest converter designs on them seem to be better in that regard. I have included a link to a video showing an example installation of the Tekonsha harness for you.

  • Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2014 Ford Flex without Factory Tow Package
Tow Ready trailer wiring harness # 118472 is just one option for the 2014 Ford Flex. Its the only option that does not have a powered converter like you are describing (for models without factory tow package). There could potentially be too much power draw if you were to use this harness. Since that is a major concern for you I recommend using Curt harness # C56343 instead. It does require a direct connection to the vehicle battery. I have included a link to our help article with tips...

  • Is a Powered Converter Needed to Add Trailer Wiring for a 2011 Ford Flex SEL
If your 2011 Ford Flex SEL did not come with a factory installed 7-Way trailer connector then you can either use the T-connector without the converter, # 118472, or you could use one with a powered converter, # C56343. The trailer hitch that I recommend using to tow a small trailer with your 2019 Ford Flex is the Draw-Tite Max-Frame # 75679 because it has a second, smaller, hitch pin hole that allows you to use the Tow Ready J-Pin Stabilization Pin and Barrel Lockset # 63201 to help keep a ball mount or accessory steady and locked. The J-Pin is useful for those accessories that don't have a locking or anti-rattle hitch pin so the ability to use this option is definitely a benefit. Then for wiring I...
