Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look at the Hopkins 7-way to 4-pole adapter with built-in LED test light. Unlike a traditional adapter, this actually has a built-in LED light that lets you know that your signals are on. So right now we have our running lights on and when we run through our turn signals, these will also illuminate, and that's something that's really nice because right then and there, you can see if your connection is working. So whether you've been towing with the same vehicle with a 7-way and you've picked up a trailer that now has a 4-pole, this is gonna allow you to adapt to it and you're gonna be able to hook up all the same, have all your lights work. Or if you have gone from a 4-pole to a vehicle with a 7-pole, this will also allow you to adapt to that as well. So that way you can make the junction between the two.
What I really like about the actual design here is it has a nice pistol grip to it so pulling this plug out, it is very easy. You actually have a grip underneath here. Some of these can kind of be a little bit tough. It also has a nice construction to it, just feels good overall, allows this to be put in place and hold it in place. Now on the back end here, you actually have some nice braided cable and it goes to the tether here with our LED test light with our 4-pole on it.
So you can see, having this tether here is nice because you're able to kind of move this around to gain access to your trailer plug, gives you just a little bit of extra room here. And also what's really nice is the integrated dust cap here. So when you're not using your 4-pole, you can simply cap it up and that's gonna keep any road grime or dust or dirt or debris from getting caked up here. That way, when you're ready to use it, you can simply uncap it and it's gonna be nice and clean, giving you a good connection. So let's go ahead and test it on our trailer now.
So first we're gonna do our running lights, which we saw previous, next I'm gonna do my left turn signal, my right turn signal, and then finally my brakes. Now the great thing is you can also see these on the tester as well, so you know that they are working. And that was a look at the Hopkins 7-way adapter to 4-pole with built in LED test light..
Has held up well
etrailer responded and provided me with exactly what I was looking for: A7-way RV adapter to a 4-way Flat Trailer connector. This unit also had an LED Test Light built into the connecter!!
Hopkins products are really good - Rewiring trailers with only Hopkins products. The sheath covering 7 way to 4 flat wiring, seems flimsy and would deteriorate in a short amount of time, leaving exposed wires. The 7 way lights up, as well as the 4 flat, insuring wiring is connecting and properly working. The product I wanted was on back order, which appeared to be more heavy duty, sheath. Customer Service helpful. Received within a few days.
We have a camp trailer with a 7 pin round socket on the pickup, and needed a 4 pin flat socket for our new utility trailer. I wasn't looking forward to breaking into the truck wiring to install a new socket. Luckily I found this adapter at etrailer. I really like the fact that it has test lights on it. Makes it convenient. As usual etrailer's follow-up and customer service are excellent.

Been working great for the last year...no issues. I actually like the slight bend in the connector as it makes it easier to install in the vehicle receptacle.
