Video Transcript for Ultimate Overview of the Curt 7-Way RV-Style Trailer Connector

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at a Curt 7-Way RV Style Vehicle End Trailer Connector. This is a seven blade RV style trailer connector that serves as a replacement for a damaged socket. The connector is an OE replacement on Ford, GM and Nissan. This can also be added to a vehicle with a factory tow package. It's a simple plug-in installation, just insert into the tow package port and twist into position. There's no cutting or splicing required and there's no tools needed. The unit is constructed of a durable molded plastic construction so it's very strong and durable and it's designed to resist corrosion.

Features a really nice spring loaded lid with that easy to use finger tab there for easy opening. Spring loaded lid and then on the inside here it's got a nice gasket that keeps out dirt and moisture. It does not come with a mounting bracket and it does not come with mounting hardware but it does have the pre-drilled holes right here to get it easily attached to a bracket. The holes going up and down, center on center they're separated by an inch in a half and then side to side on center they're separated by 2-1/4 inches. That's going to do it for today's look at the Curt 7-Way RV Style Vehicle End Trailer Connector.

This worked out great. I was glad to find that I could replace this after damaging the one on my vehicle. Super easy to replace. Unplug the old and plug in the new. Thanks Etrailer!

  • Recommended Replacement 7-Way Socket for a 2019 Ford F-350
Gordon, it looks like you can use the Curt 7-Way RV-Style Trailer Connector # C55416 to replace your socket on your Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness w/ 7-Pole Connector for Aluminum Beds # C57008.

  • Troubleshooting a Factory Brake Controller on a 2011 Chevy Silverado 2500
Hey Joseph. I recommend checking your fuses to see if there's power going to the factory brake controller on your 2011 Chevy Silverado 2500. If those check out you'll want to go to your truck's 7-way connector and make sure it's clean and not corroded. You can use a Multimeter like item # PT89ZR to make sure the pin functions are working. You'll want to have someone engage the manual override on your brake controller and then test the 5 o'clock pin to see if it's getting 12 volts. If...

  • What Size Hole Normally Gets Drilled to Install 7-Way
The mounting brackets that normally hold 7-ways like the # C55416 that you referenced typically have a 2 inch center diameter like the part # PK12711U. If you were wanting to drill a hole in a surface to mount this into I'd go with a 2 inch hole for the easiest install.

  • Mounting Bracket For Curt 7-Way RV-Style Trailer Connector # C55416
The Curt Mounting Bracket # C67UR is the bracket that I recommend using with the Curt 7-Way RV-Style Trailer Connector # C55416 that you already have. This connector uses a mounting bolt pattern of 2-1/4" X 1-1/2". The EZ Connector Mounting Bracket # 319-S7-61 has a different bolt hole pattern as it is designed to be used with the EZ Connector Magnetic 7-Way Trailer Connector # 319-S7-05. It has the larger 2-1/2" X 1-3/4" bolt pattern.

  • Is 7-Way Connector from Harness C56070 Available By Itself
The 7-Way with the design you have isn't available by itself but you could potentially use # C55416. If you have harness # C56070 then you will be able to use this 7-Way. If you have a different harness let me know the brand or part number.

  • Curt 7-Way with USCAR Connector and Bare Wires for Hardwiring
Hey Robert, thanks for reaching out! The best way to get what you're wanting is to combine both the Curt 7-Way RV-Style Trailer Connector # C55416 and the Curt Universal Wiring Harness # C56229. Curt doesn't have something like the Curt T-Connector # C55243 with bare wires as a single kit so the parts I mentioned above will be what you need to use.
