Hey Joseph. I recommend checking your fuses to see if there's power going to the factory brake controller on your 2011 Chevy Silverado 2500. If those check out you'll want to go to your truck's 7-way connector and make sure it's clean and not corroded.
You can use a Multimeter like item # PT89ZR to make sure the pin functions are working. You'll want to have someone engage the manual override on your brake controller and then test the 5 o'clock pin to see if it's getting 12 volts. If not you can work your way back from the connector towards the cab of your truck to find any faults or cuts in the wire. If you need to replace the 7-way you'll want the item # C55416.
If there's nothing wrong with the wiring then, I recommend replacing the brake controller with our Tekonsha Prodigy P2 item # 90885. The included harness will allow you to get your old factory controller swapped out with a new functional one.
Was your trailer and all of it's wiring working fine before you swapped out the tow vehicle?

Hey Joseph, how did things go after you checked the fuses and wiring on your Silverado’s brake controller? Were you able to get power to the 7-way or end up swapping to the Prodigy P2 controller? Your update could make it easier for others troubleshooting older factory setups.
