Installation
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area. You will have to remove the rear scuff panel and some interior trim to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a circuit-protected, battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.
Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.
Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.
Each Curt circuit board is made using high-quality components that are pieced together in the most technologically savvy fashion, leading to greater predictability and reliability in functioning.

Everything was perfect. The plug in adapters for the rear taillight fit perfect and there was plenty of wire to access everything. Excellent product and an excellent video for installation.

Worked perfect on 2017 Impala. Don't be afraid to tear all the trim out of the trunk. If you take your time, the wiring is invisible. I didn't enjoy sliding under the car to route the power from the battery. I did wind up using a floor jack and jackstands to give me more room.
Installed this unit in my Chevrolet Impala. Unfortunately it stopped working four months after purchase. I kept looking for a problem on the trailer but finally after ruling out all other possibilities concluded it was this unit. I was stuck on the road so ended up purchasing a replacement locally. This is not the first of these I have purchased so I know this failure is not typical of the product.
The kit was just as expected and harnesses look OE quality. Good product. Takes a bit of effort to get the power cable to the battery but that's not saying anything bad about the product. Be warned for DIYer's.
Completely plug and play! It took longer to loosen the trunk panels than it did to install the harness. I have had zero problems with the wiring after 1 year of occasional use.
Having some part issues for my 2015 Impala Limited, but I am still rating etrailer an excellent due to the great customer service I am receiving in returning the incorrect parts and ordering the correct ones. Thanks for helping me sort this out Rose.
I installed the wiring harness for my impala in about an hour an a half. It works great .No problems at all . rate it Excellent. Thanks for a great product.
Not only did they get our parts to use in a week. They sent us videos on how to I stall. Made installing easy. Will recommend to others.
Also sent tracking number that updated daily.
This hitch is good but the instructions are not so good for the Impala Premier. There is more stuff in the way than the instructions show (made for Impala LS). The video should be consulted before trying to install on Premier. This will save time and grief.

Nice setup. Easy install. Only challenge was finding a place to get 12V. Works great.
