Hi everyone. Steve here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at this BioLite Luci Original inflatable solar lantern in matte color. That's right folks, I said inflatable. So this is gonna be great for loading up your pack when every ounce counts. You have a super lightweight lantern that can be set up in less than a minute.
So, I've got another one here. They do offer these in different colors. Sold separately. As you can see, when it's deflated, it's about an inch wide. And once it's inflated, you get this impressive five inch tall by a four and 1/4 inch round sphere shape lantern.
So pretty neat. It uses solar energy here to charge. It does come with a USB charger if you so choose to charge it that way. It doesn't take too long to charge up in the sun. You have a power button here on the top with four different settings.
You get a low light, medium, high, and flashing. It is IP67-rated, so it can handle some rain, sand, and just life in general. So I want to go ahead and turn this on, and then we will shut off our overhead lights here. Bare with me if your seeing any kind of flashing or fuzz. That's just the LEDs on my particular camera.
I do apologize for that. And high setting here. So as you can see, the lights are pretty bright. I want to go ahead and zoom out here. So as you can see, very nice. This is head length, or head height here. Puts on a pretty generous amount of light, and if I go to flashing, it's just a flashing. They do say strobes/flashing from the manufacturer. I personally would call it more of a flashing. To me, strobe is a lot faster on the blinking. But again, very nice, very simple to use, very easy to recharge when needed, and it's a simple press of the power button on the top here to switch modes. So I'm gonna go ahead and flip it off now. And then when you're done using it, you just simply pop the inflatable part here open, and then squeeze the safety valve here, that way it opens up the valve to let all the air out. It gives off enough light for basic tasks and charges itself during the day. It also has a SOS feature that signals for help. Great for tossing in a backpack or glove box. If your car breaks down in a remote area or your phone dies, using an SOS beacon from your lantern can make your location visible to passing cars or rescue crews. This would also be good for hikers that like to hike in remote areas alone.
