Today we're going to take a look at the RockyMounts 4 ft-long SteelBraid cable. Now this is a braided steel, which is very flexible and resistant to cutting. The looped ends can be fed through each other for securing bikes, outdoor gear, furniture, grills or any other item. Has a nice vinyl coating over the whole cable to protect your equipment from any damage. It is a seal 00:00:20 cable, so it will not rust. The dimensions on this, if we stretched this out, would be 4 ft long.

The diameter on the cable itself is 3/8 of an inch. This cable can be used with the RockyMounts Dialup combination padlock, part number RKY3820, or the RockyMounts padlocks, RKY3819, or RKY3821. Very well made product. It weighs approximately 10 ounces, so I don't mind carrying it on my bike considering the theft protection it provides. Overall it is 3/8 inch in diameter, but the actual cable itself is about 1/4 inch in diameter, still plenty stout enough to deter the casual bike thief.

We have bought quite a few things in the last two years from E-Trailer. But the most recent great buy is the Trimax cable lock with alarm. Nice and beefy beaded cable, I have it on a Volicirax bike rack while I stop at a store or restaurant quick in and out. Piece of mind that it’s going to take some effort to cut through this and it will need to bevplanned you will need bolt cutters. The cane has a nice protective coating so you won’t scratch up you rack or your bikes.

Seems well made, cable is nice and flexible. At 25' long, will be useful for locking up *all* the bikes when camping. It's still just a cable, so expect security on that level (Forest campgrounds should be fine, RV park in Los Angeles probably not).

    Since your RockyMounts MonoRail bike rack has a threaded hitch pin to reduce the rattle, the SIlentACT Let's Go Aero Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # SHP2082 is not compatible as the rectangular block will need to fit inside the shank of the bike rack. Since any lock that you add to your setup will act as a theft deterrent and could eventually be broken, the best way to ward off would-be thieves is to make it look like it will be a lot of work to get your bike/bike rack.
