Erickson Car Tie Down Straps - 88509

Use this axle strap to tie down a vehicle to the bed of a trailer. The strap loops around the axle and then attaches to a ratchet. Extra protective wear material offers additional protection to prolong the life of the strap. 10,000 lbs max load.

Features:

  • Strap dimensions: 2" wide x 24" long
  • Safe working load limit (WLL): 3,300 lbs
  • Maximum load (break strength): 10,000 lbs
  • Extra protective wear material prolongs the life of the strap

Note: Tie-down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the straps being used. For example, if you are using straps with a WLL of 500 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 1,000 lbs, then you need at least 2 straps to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use straps in pairs.

Video Transcript for A Closer Look at the Erickson Deluxe Axle Strap with D-Rings

Today we'll be taking a look at the Erickson Axle Strap with D-Rings. This is rated at 10,000 pounds. Part number is 88509. This strap is 2 inches wide, 24 inches long. It has a safe working limit of 3300 pounds. The heavy duty stitching is going to help ensure your vehicle stays in place.

As you can see here, we've got our UTV all loaded up, just need to get it secured to the trailer. Now we're just going to bring this around, in our case, the control arm on our UTV. That could just as easily be the axle on a vehicle or truck. We're going to take our hook right onto the D-ring there, and then we'll just cinch it down. As you can see we've got a nice secure hold on our UTV here.

We're going to be able to go down the road with confidence knowing that we've got it secured properly. Now we'll head over to the other side, get it secured just the same as we did here. That will complete today's look at the Erickson Axle Strap, part number 88509. .

  • Are Brophy Trailer D-Ring Tie Downs # RR05 Suitable for Use on a Car Trailer
According to my contact at Brophy, their # RR05 Trailer D-Ring Tie Down has a working load limit of 1600-lbs and a break strength of 5,000-lbs. (Working Load Limit or WLL is the maximum burden that should be put on the device in daily use.) This makes this sturdy 2-1/2-lb tie down perfect for use on a car hauler trailer. In a typical trailer configuration with four or more of these tie downs being used at the same time you will have at least 20,000-lbs of capacity for securing the loaded...

  • Do Tie-Down Points/E-Track Need to Be Installed to Secure Arctic Cat to 4 x 8 Foot Utility Trailer
You wouldn't need to install dedicated tie down points into the trailer floor, your Arctic Cat can be secured to the trailer, but I'd rather see you use a combination of the # EM58522 wheel nets and for the front wheels and axle straps like # 88509 and ratchet straps such as part # EM51330 for the rear axle. The J-Hooks from the wheel nets could attach to the front underside of the trailer, and the axles straps and ratchet straps could secure the rear.

  • Recommended Straps to Transport 3,000 lbs Roller on a Trailer
For your 3,000 lbs roller, I recommend using the Erickson Car Tie-Down Kit - Twisted Flat Hooks and Axle Strap w/ Ratchet # 08504-05, provided you have the necessary attachment points. This kit has a working load limit (WLL) of 3,300 lbs so it would be enough for your roller. This kit comes with an axle strap, but if you needed additional axle straps for tie-downs, you could use the Erickson Axle Strap with D-Rings # 88509. If you do not have good tie-down points, another option would...

  • Protective Sleeve Recommendation for a Erickson Tie Down
The only way to get the sleeves of the part # 88509 is to order them. They aren't available as a separate part. We do have a similar sleeve though, part # EM06305. This is used to protect painted surfaces, but it also protects the strap.

  • Width and Length of the Metal Ends of the Trailer Axle Strap with D-Rings # 88509
The metal ends of the Trailer Axle Strap with D-Rings # 88509 that you referenced are 3-1/8 inches wide by 3-1/8 inches long.

  • Recommended Erickson Car Tie Down Items for Wheels of 1934 Chevrolet
You should be fine securing your '34 Chevy by its Torq Thrust wheels but you'll want to wrap the strap around the wheel and tire and not just one of the spokes. The Erickson Axle Strap with D-Rings # 88509 is 24-inches long and so should give you plenty of room. For a ratchet with more length than the 7-foot Erickson you might consider the Bulldog Combo Axle/Ratcheting Tie-Down Strap # BDW20229. This serves as both an axle strap (for your wheel) and a 10-foot ratcheting tie down rated...
