I LOVE MY CARPOD!!

We (my 3 kids and parents) took my Pilot to a 3 week road trip across 8 states, crossed the border to Canada including two provinces, and drove 4900 miles! This product held 5 duffel bags, 1 luggage, and other things we could stuff in there!!

It rained the WHOLE state of Montana and only one side of inside the bag was wet. I think it was because I didn’t fold the flap down properly so some moisture seeped through the zipper and the sides of my girls’ duffel bags got wet.

Tammy, the sales rep, was so helpful! I had many questions and she took time finding out the answers to my questions and helped me decide which product was best for me. She also suggested the anti rattle device, which I highly recommend, since I drove and felt like there was nothing behind me. It was so quiet!!

It also made a prefect table for our roadside lunch breaks! I highly reccomned this product!!

Worked great on our family road trip! We were able to throw our sandy gear in it to keep the Bronco clean and prevented us from having to pile junk up in the backseat next to the kiddo. When it rained we used the bag, which kept everything dry. By locking the lid, we felt comfortable leaving the vehicle and our stuff unattended. It blocked our license plate, but was easy to mount the license plate to the pod so it was visible.

I worked with Karen at etrailer.com. She was excellent in helping me. I was looking for a cargo hitch (CarPod) and they were out of the one I wanted. Karen helped me get the other model and get it to me in time for my trip. The CarPod was easy to put together and looks perfect for what we need it for.

The only drawback: I ordered the recommended padlocks to secure the top of the CarPod container. The padlocks need to have a deeper loop than the ones sent with the product. I went to target to get the same brand with a deeper loop. The top has 3 spots to place your locks and Target had a 3 pack of Masterlock brand that was perfect.

We took it on a trip to Kansas City. Over 1,800 miles round trip. It worked out great for us. We got in some downpours. A little moisture got in, but not too bad. We bought an additional piece to prevent rocking on bumps. Together, I recommend this product. Works great for what we need.

The Carpod is exactly what we need to expand our hauling capacity for luggage, beach chairs, ice chests, etc... The main reason I bought it was because of the high side panels. I also like the features of being able to (1) lock the top; (2) put things in the bag as needed, especially during rain; and (3) the rise shank/fold up feature when not in use but still attached to the Highlander. I have another carrier (for several years) of similar size, but the "sides" are only about 6 inches high, meaning that everything on that one needs bungee cords or rope to secure. This Carpod is much more useful. Good product and design, at a fair price, and a most helpful staff.

We purchased the Carpod a year because we did not have enough room in our SUV for all our stuff. We loaded the Carpod with vacuum bags and it was amazing how well they fit. Once you suck the air out of the bags, you can literally fill the Carpod with a tons of items. Once we got to our destination we were able to breakdown the Carpod and store it in the basement. Very easy to use and assemble. Everything in the Carpod is safe and waterproof.

Great... worth its wait in gold. Easy to use and pack and store when not in use. does not seem to affect gas mileage because it does not create any drag versus a roof top rack

Great product. Easy to install and use. Very secure. Also bought top and cargo bag. Cargo bag is water resistant not water proof. Like how it can be folded up when not in use. Would buy again.

It is a great cargo carrier. After one use in which it rained, parts of it immediately got surface rust on exposed metal. Not terrible issues, but both a bit annoying. Also, the bag is not waterproof. I feel like with a properly waterproofed bag and a better finish, it would be perfect. But, still, it is a very nice cargo carrier and I highly recommend it. It is especially convenient how it (a) is elevated and (b) how it folds up easily.

I am very happy with this cargo carrier. A couple years ago I bought the fixed non folding no side carrier and that has been bullet proof as well! I ended up buying small master locks to secure the cargo inside the carrier while the truck is unattended. I also purchased the hitch stabilizer for heavier loads. I’m very happy with this product and it is very helpful that it folds up so easily and is out of the way while still on the truck. Thanks

We ordered the M2205-01 Carpod carrier with lid for our 2013 Lexus RX350 last year for a 1000+ mile road trip and it hasn't disappointed. It's a sturdy, well constructed piece of equipment that added much needed storage for our journey. We also ordered the weather RESISTANT (NOT waterproof) insert for our gear. It too worked well. Locks do not come with the Carpod, but are added with no problem. An additional plus for this particular Carpod is that it can be folded once unpacked to disassemble later. Once disassembled, it stores nicely in a corner of your garage. We haven't second guessed our purchase at all. It's a perfect tool for giving us more storage without making things complicated. Aaaand, what made this purchase even better was the EXCELLENT customer service we received from etrailer.com.

Happy to have this cargo container when necessary but a few continuous improvement things would be suggested - the cargo bag should be waterproof, if you have the top when collapsing it should be easier to integrate, I find for some of our uses the size is just a few inches too small on each size so consider some alternate sizes.

So far the cargo carrier seems great! Cannot attest for durability until we have it for a while but it seems strong. We assembled put on the vehicle and it appears it will be what we wanted. It sits high enough from the ground, the lid provides security and the bag privacy and weather protection. It does block our license plate so we are not sure if that is an issue. Also wish extra pins were provided or available for purchase.

I just got the cargo carrier yesterday and installed it last night. Haven't taken it out on the road yet, but so far it looks and feels great and the anti-rattle locking pin keeps it nice and snug on my Hyundai Santa Fe. One comment. The description says that the distance from the center pin to the rise is 2.5". Not true on my carrier. It's 6", making the extender I bought completely unnecessary.

Here's my only suggestion... I lost the lid one time because I forgot to put it back on. Now I have a couple zip ties to keep it attached to the cage. You should figure out some rings to do that more permanently.

Only complaint is the bag has a bunch of small holes in it now which caused it to leak and a lot of our stuff get wet. We drove our car 2700+ miles from Atlanta, GA to the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico. The carrier itself is great! But again, only complaint is the included bag and wish it was more durable.

Love the design. Just what I was looking for to put on my Motorhome. The only problem that I have with the carrier is that one side is not level which makes the lid not fit well.

Easily assembled, some of the parts were loose in the box but they were all there.

    Not all enclosed cargo carriers are approved for use at the rear of an RV like the part # M2205-01-02 that you referenced but I do have a great solution for you that is. You'd want the GearDeck 17 Enclosed Cargo Carrier part # H00604 which is RV approved and will work well. This can carry up to 17 cubic feet of storage space and has a 420 lb capacity.     The Carpod Walled and Folding Cargo Carrier does not come with a hitch pin clip. The basic hitch pin clips that you will need is part # PC3. For added security and to help deter theft you can use the Let's Go Areo Anti-Rattle Hitch Receiver Lock # 63232. If you were wanting to add some security to your cargo carrier, I recommend using the Master Lock Padlock # ML312D for when the top is closed.

    Unfortunately, we do not have a license plate bracket specifically designed to be used with the Carpod Carrier # M2205-01-02 but we have a number of trailer license plate brackets that could possibly be used.     The difference between the two Carpods that you referenced is that the part # M2205-01-02 can fold up and the # M2200-01-02 does not fold. The only color that the # M2202 comes in is black.     Given enough time and the proper tools any enclosed cargo carrier can be broken into. Locks can be drilled, bolts can be cut, mesh can be removed. Realistically though a would-be thief will move on to an easier target if they encounter a lock. For an enclosed carrier I recommend the two you mentioned, the Yakima EVO and the Geardeck 17.
