Question:
Is there an option for the specific model that allows the basket to extend away from the rear of the vehicle. This would allow access to the rear of the Jeep without taking the basket down or removing the item altogether.

Sounds like you are looking for the GearSpace 34 Enclosed Cargo Carrier # HGK819. This carrier can slide out away from the vehicle it is installed in to give additional clearance.
Or for a carrier that swings to the side for more clearance we have the Yakima EXO # Y62VR. This swings out and away from your vehicle giving you full access to your Jeep.
