Video Transcript for Front Runner Stratchit Shorties Tie-Down Straps Review

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at these Front Runner Stratchit Shorties tie-down straps. Now, these combination cam buckle and bungee tie-down straps are going to let you quickly and easily secure your cargo. The flexible bungee section of the strap, as you can see, stretches to accommodate a variety of loads and absorbs the road shock. And this is also good to have because if your cargo shifts at all, the stretchiness of the strap will allow it to move and still put tension on your cargo holding it in place.

And if there's really no give you in your straps, you do run the risk of your cargo shifting and the strap losing all that tension on your cargo and possibly losing your cargo. So you're not gonna have an issue with these straps. You're just going to simply pull on the loose webbing through the cam buckle here to tighten the strap down. And as you can see, we have built-in hook and loop wranglers or straps here to keep the excess strap neatly coiled which is really nice. So that's gonna help prevent the unused strap from flapping around while you drive.

As you've already seen, these straps do have built-in stainless steel carabiners that's going to easily attach to your tie-down points. And these spring loaded gates are going to lock around your anchor points and you're not gonna have to worry about these carabiners accidentally slipping off or anything like that. Now, these straps have a safe working load limit of 220 pounds per strap. And as you might know, tie-down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit. The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined working load limit of the straps being used.

So for example, if you're using straps with a working load limit of 500 pounds each to tie down a load weighing 1,000 pounds, then you will need at least two straps to safely secure that load. And you always want to use straps in pairs. Now, these straps are adjustable from 18-1/2 inches to 40 inches long, and the width of the strap is one inch. And you're going to receive what you see here, these two straps. And these straps, these Stratchit Shorties are about 20 inches shorter than the regular Stratchit straps from Front Runner.

So if you think the longer ones are going to work better for you, the good news is we do carry those as well here at etrailer.com. So on your screen, I am including our item number for those longer Stratchit straps, and you can just take that item number and put it in the search field of our website and that will take you to the longer version of these straps. Well, that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

It's amazing how handy these straps are. I stash them everywhere.. from the stroller to the golf cart to every car we have. They're great for tying down everything in the cargo area but really excel for securing things on roof racks from christmas trees and beach umbrellas to stand up paddle boards and kayaks.

This it the second set of four Front Runner Strachit straps that I have purchased. They work perfectly to secure my two kayaks to the racks without any concern that they will come loose. Brilliant idea, very well made.

  • Tie Down Strap Recommendation for Can Am Outlander
The Front Runner Stratchit Shorties part # FR59RV wasn't designed for securing a Can Am Outlander like you have. It was more designed for lighter weight cargo. For your application a stretching tie down like the ShockStrap part # 297-9RSDB would be a better choice. This has a capacity of 2,000 lb per strap instead.
