Video Transcript for Gladiator Tie Down Straps with S-hooks and Snap Hooks Review

Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the extra strap kit options from Gladiator Cargo Nets. (upbeat music) Now, these cargo nets are really versatile for tying down different cargo, and all of them come with straps, but they can greatly benefit from an add-on strap kit. Luckily, Gladiator does offer additional strap kits, but in a couple different styles. They're all going to have a carabiner on one side with the cam buckle, that's gonna be what attaches to the cargo net and all of those metal reinforced grommets. But then on the other end, we've got some options, there's the vinyl-coated double J-hook, there's going to be the vinyl-coated S-hook, and there's going to be the one that ends off in just another carabiner.

They're all gonna have their own different strengths and weaknesses, we'll touch on that in the demo here, so let's check them out. For our trailer today, my personal strap of choice is going to be the double J-hook. We've got stake pockets around the trailer, and these I think are gonna work the best for our application. Like all the other straps included with these nets, that carabiner end will go in the grommets, and then I'm actually gonna drop the double J-hook down through the gap and back up around to the top and pull it down tight. That's gonna get a good, strong hold on this part of the trailer, and then all of our excess strap can just get hooked right up to the end by the cargo net right there.

All of them are gonna have that grommet on the free end of the strap, so any sort of excess strap that we end up with is taken care of and not gonna be flying around going down the road. For the other two straps, I'd say that they may be better suited for places like in a truck bed or a trailer that has D-rings, that's just because this sort of shape of hook is gonna work better with those, but it can still work with our stake pockets. Hooking it into the net, dropping it down through that stake pocket and back up, it can still get a good hold, but it's not going to be sitting as flat as our double J-hook was before, so it's just not as nice of a fit, that D-ring would be much better here. And again, for the one that has the double carabiners, I think I'd like this a lot better for a D-ring, especially with this one, since it's spring loaded, it can just hook onto that tie-down point, and then it doesn't come disconnected as we tighten all the slack down. But for our application here, we still could drop it down through, back up to the top, it's just not gonna be the nicest hold, and we're not really fully utilizing that spring loaded hook.

And whatever style of strap you end up going with, I think it's gonna be a really nice addition to these nets, especially with some of the larger utility trailer ones, this one is greatly benefiting from all the extra straps, having all of this slack around the sides of the net tied down and secured, just making sure that all of our load underneath is also secured. What it really comes down to is what kind of tie-downs you have, what hook end is going to be the best for your application, and what's gonna work the best for your trailer or truck. But that'll do it for a look at the different options for your add-on strap kits from Gladiator Nets. Thanks for watching.
