This Dexter hydraulic brake actuator is a solid fix when your old unit is worn out or discontinued. It’s built for trailers with hydraulic drum brakes and delivers dependable stopping power through a surge design that activates smoothly when the tow vehicle slows down. With a 14,000 lbs gross towing weight and 1,400 lbs maximum tongue weight, it’s made to handle heavy-duty loads without drama.
Dialing in the right height for your coupler is easy with the built-in 3-position channel. The vertical range of adjustment—4 inches—lets you line up almost any coupler to keep your trailer level behind your tow vehicle. Whether you’re running a standard 2-5/16" ball coupler, a lunette ring, or another attachment, this setup makes it simple to get things aligned and ready to roll.
The actuator’s heavy-duty steel body resists bending in jackknife situations and stays strong under repeated loads. Zinc plating adds corrosion resistance that stands up to water, salt, and weather—ideal for boat trailers or equipment haulers that see rough conditions. The roller design inside keeps movement straight and smooth every time the brakes engage.
Hooking up is quick thanks to the trigger-latch coupler and easy-to-grab circle grip. Just pull back on the trigger to open the ball socket and drop it onto the hitch ball—no fuss or fighting with stiff latches. Once connected, you get a secure link that’s solid mile after mile.
The included breakaway kit gives extra peace of mind on the road. If the trailer ever disconnects, the safety cable triggers the actuator to apply the brakes automatically, helping bring the trailer to a stop before it can roll away.
Because this actuator does not include a reverse lockout, it is recommended that you equip your trailer with free-backing brakes so that you can drive in reverse without the actuator triggering your trailer's brakes.

Today we're going to take a look at the Titan Hydraulic Drum Brake Actuator. It's a 2 5/16th hitch ball, has a three position channel, 14,000 pound weight capacity and a zinc finish. Now, this hydraulic actuator will activate your trailer brakes when the tow vehicle slows or stops. The adjustable channel right up here has three different mounting positions for the coupler. The ball coupler has this nice trigger latch which will let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. It has a circle grip right here which makes the latch very simple to use.
Just pull back on it, that opens it up. Drop it onto your ball and just release and it will lock into place. It uses a unique roller design right here. This reduces resistance during the telescoping to create straight line movement. You can see that on each end of the rollers they have a Zerk fitting for lubrication. It is a sturdy, durable steel construction which will resist bending in any jackknife situations.
Again, the zinc plating on this will provide corrosion resistance. The brake away kit right here, you can see the chain with the hook on it, it's all included. Just hook this to your tow vehicle and that will activate if the trailer happens to come detached from your tow vehicle. It will activate the brake for you and lock up the brakes to stop the trailer. This is a bolt on installation.
You can see right at the bottom here the holes for the bolt on installation. Now again, the application on this is for trailers with hydraulic drum brakes. The great towing weight capacity is 14,000 pounds. Maximum tongue rate is 1,400 pounds. The ball size that this fits is 2 5/16th.
This is designed to mount on a straight 3 inch wide trailer tongue. The range of adjustment right up here for this coupler, the vertical range for adjustment is 4 inches. One last note I do want to mention on this is because this actuator does not include a reverse lockout, reverse lockout is usually a solenoid that's installed on the back here. This does not have one so it is recommended that you equip your trailer with eeb 00:01:55 free backing brakes so that you can drive in reverse without the actuator triggering your trailer brakes. That should do it for the review on the Titan Hydraulic Drum Brake Actuator. It's 2 5/16ths hitch ball, has a three position channel, 14,000 pound weight capacity and a zinc finish.
