etrailer Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2018 Ford Explorer

Ryan: Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. today, we're going to be taking a look the etrailer.com Aluminum Cargo Carrier on our 2018 Ford Explorer. Many Explorer owners tend to use a lot of accessories and that is definitely understandable. These are great family and work SUV, but because of that, they tend to fill up with stuff pretty quickly on the inside, especially when you're on a vacation or something like that. And that's where the cargo carrier's really going to come in handy. It's going to help you get that stuff from the inside, out here, freeing up a lot more space for your passengers, or maybe even pets. And what's really great about this setup is if you do plan on towing a trailer or using another accessory like a bike rack, the fact that this is made out of aluminum makes it really easy to take out or put into your hitch.

Colin: Hey everyone, it's Colin 00:00:02 here at etrailer, and today we have a 2018 Ford Explorer. Now, we've been testing hitch-mounted accessories on it, and right now we have the etrailer tilting and folding cargo carrier installed. I'll just go over some of the features of it, show you guys it interacts with your Explorer. Now to start, one of the really cool features about this cargo carrier, you don't really see it too often with cargo carriers, is that we can tilt it away to gain better access to our trunk. So before I do that, want to show you guys why that feature's important. First off, we'll show you what your break over point is, meaning how far you can open up your hatch until it makes contact with the cargo you have stacked when it's just up in the upright position. Now you'll see when I open up the trunk, we'll bring it up here. So it makes contact at about 33 inches.

Reese 24x60 Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2018 Ford Explorer

Adam: Hi everybody, Adam, with the etrailer.com. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Reese cargo carrier on our 2018 Ford Explorer. So, this is going to be a 60 by 24" steel cargo carrier. It is made of heavy duty steel, and it has this nice powder-coated finish. Also, as you can see, the flooring in this has, has a nice diamond pattern to it. So, a lot of your water and mud and such is going to fall right through, and also the powder coat also protects it from rust and corrosion.

Thule Roof Basket Review - 2018 Ford Explorer

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Ford Explorer, we're gonna be test fitting Thule's Canyon X2 roof cargo basket. The 49 inch long model is part number TH859XT. And you can get a longer 69 inch model with part number TH859XT-8591XT. This cargo carrier is gonna allow you to get stuff outside of your vehicle and up on your roof. So, now you can get more passengers inside the vehicle. The multiple bars that run across it are gonna offer plenty of tie down points, so no matter what sized gear you have, you'll find a way to strap it down.

Rola Swinging Hitch Mounted Cargo Carrier Installation - 2018 Ford Explorer

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Ford Explorer, we're going to be doing a test fit on the roll in, swinging, and closed cargo carrier for closed hitches. Part #59109.I've already got the roll in closed cargo carrier installed on my Explorer, as you can see. The first thing that I'd like to point out, is that it does not extend past beyond the width of our Explorer. Also, even though our carrier has included tail lights, we also have full visibility or our Explorer's tail lights.Another thing you'll enjoy, is that it doesn't block our rear view window. It is, however, going to block your backup camera. One of my favorite features is, it has the ability to swing out, so we can gain access to our rear hatch.
