Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2005 Ford F-150

Today on our 2005 Ford F-150 Super Cab, we'll be doing a test fit of the Thule T2 Pro platform-style 4-bike rack. That's part number TH9034-9036. I've already got it loaded up on the F-150 just to give you a good idea of what it looks like and how it's going to secure our bikes. It actually secures our bikes in 2 spots. We have this rear wheel strap going over our rear wheel. Then up here at the front, we have this large wheel hook going over our front wheel, putting down pressure into our front wheel cradle.

To start, we will slide the shank of the bike rack into the hitch. Next we line up the pin holes, taking our anti-rattle bolt and threading it through driver's side to passenger side. Next, tighten down the bolt using a wrench and secure it with a clip on the other side. With the bike rack in this position, ground clearance is about 17 inches. The closest point to the truck is about 6-1/2 inches and the overall length is about an additional 15 inches. Next we will loosen the thumb screws and move the arms towards the center mast.

The closest front 00:00:33 of the bike rack to the rear of our F150 is about 4" inches and over all we've added about 14" inches to the overall length of our vehicle. Pull the lever at the top of the mast to swing out our dual arms. With these out we've added about 43" to the overall length of our F150. If we pull the lever at the base of the bike rack we can tilt the bike rack away from the vehicle.
