If you like a setup that keeps your front end looking clean when you’re not towing, this base plate does it right. The hidden design keeps the hardware tucked away behind the fascia, so nothing sticks out once the arms are removed. Each arm twists in and locks securely when you’re ready to tow, then releases with a simple pin pull when you’re done. Receiver covers plug into the brackets to keep out dirt and debris and leave a finished look until your next trip.
Connecting this base plate to your tow bar takes only a few seconds thanks to its twist-lock system. Slide the removable arms into the receivers, rotate until they click, and you’re ready to roll. When it’s time to disconnect, pull the pin, twist, and lift them out. It’s quick, secure, and saves time whether you’re hooking up in your driveway or at a campsite. The design also helps prevent knee bumps or snags since nothing protrudes from the front when the arms are off.
This base plate bolts directly to the chassis with no welding required. The sturdy steel build spreads towing force evenly across the frame to help protect your suspension from stress during long-distance towing. The powder-coated finish resists rust and corrosion through miles of weather and road grime. It’s a solid choice if you want confidence in your setup every time you hit the highway.
If you already have a tow bar setup you trust, this base plate is ready for it. It pairs directly with Blue Ox tow bars for a secure connection and can be adapted for use with Roadmaster (RM-031 or RM-031-5) or Demco (DM9523041) systems—adapters sold separately. Integrated mounting points make it easy to attach an electrical connector plug and bracket (sold separately) for a clean wiring layout upfront.
You can bolt this base plate on without any welding or special equipment. It mounts directly to existing points on your chassis using the supplied hardware for a straightforward setup. Specs include 24" between brackets and a 13-1/2" bracket height, so you can plan your tow bar alignment ahead of time. It’s designed for enthusiasts who like tackling their own installs and want a clean, reliable result on the first try.

Its been two years since installation of the Blue Ox Baseplate. Since then, Ive flat towed the CRV from NJ to FL and back three separate times with many other shorter trips in between. Paired with a Blue Ox Tow Bar, the system has worked flawlessly since installation.

Follow up. Ive put about 8000 miles on the setup and its been great. A 34 ton suburban pulls nicely behind my Dutch star, and they dont have a steering lock so its nice not to have to retrieve keys when stopping for the night. I have used the safety cable attachment a few times for straight line pulls with a small shackle when working as a rally racing volunteer, its been fine but I wouldnt side pull on it.
