This base plate keeps your vehicle looking stock when it’s not hitched up. The brackets don’t stick out past the front end, and the removable arms twist off in seconds for a clean, seamless look. Snap-in receiver covers keep dirt and debris out of the sockets so everything stays smooth and ready for the next trip.
Hooking up doesn’t have to be a chore. Each arm slides into the receiver, twists to lock, and secures with a simple pull pin. When you’re done towing, pull the pin, twist again, and the arms slide right out. It’s straightforward and reliable whether you’re connecting solo or lining things up at the campsite.
The base plate bolts directly to the chassis with included hardware—no welding needed. Its sturdy steel build is powder coated to resist rust and corrosion, and the design spreads towing forces evenly to help prevent stress on suspension components during long hauls. The setup forms a solid connection you can trust mile after mile.
You don’t have to change your gear to use it. This base plate pairs directly with Blue Ox tow bars for a secure connection. It can also work with Roadmaster tow bars by using adapter RM-031 or RM-031-5 (sold separately) or with Demco tow bars by using adapter DM9523041 (sold separately). Integrated mounting points make it easy to attach an electrical connector plug bracket (sold separately) for a tidy wiring setup up front.
With a distance of 24" between brackets and a bracket height of 25-1/2", this kit gives you exact measurements to plan your tow bar alignment and cable routing before you start. It’s built for straightforward installation and long-term dependability, backed by a 3-year warranty.

Its been two years since installation of the Blue Ox Baseplate. Since then, Ive flat towed the CRV from NJ to FL and back three separate times with many other shorter trips in between. Paired with a Blue Ox Tow Bar, the system has worked flawlessly since installation.

Follow up. Ive put about 8000 miles on the setup and its been great. A 34 ton suburban pulls nicely behind my Dutch star, and they dont have a steering lock so its nice not to have to retrieve keys when stopping for the night. I have used the safety cable attachment a few times for straight line pulls with a small shackle when working as a rally racing volunteer, its been fine but I wouldnt side pull on it.
