Hi Patrick,

A 2021 Chevy Colorado that is 2WD cannot be flat towed, so the Blue Ox base plates part # BLU93FR will not work.

A Chevy Colorado that is 4WD has a two-speed transfer case can be flat towed because they feature a manual or electronic Neutral setting for the transfer case. When you put a 4WD transfer case into Neutral, it completely disconnects the front and rear wheels from the transmission.

On a 2WD Chevy Colorado, those spinning rear wheels rotate the driveshaft, which directly turns the internal gears of the transmission. Because the vehicle's engine is turned off during towing, the transmission fluid pump does not run. Without the pump operating, fluid cannot circulate to cool and lubricate the moving parts. This quickly generates extreme heat and friction, destroying the automatic transmission within a few miles. The best way to tow your 2WD Chevy Colorado is by using a tow dolly or a carrying it on a flatbed trailer.

Is your motorhome able to handle the weight of a tow dolly or flatbed and the vehicle together?

Patrick, To start with, you CANNOT flat tow a 2wd Chevrolet Colorado or a GMC Canyon. Unless maybe you were to remove/reinstall the driveshaft, find a way to cap the transmission output hole so as to not lose fluid or allow debri to enter, every time you tow. Whish is not something anyone would want to do. IF you were to do all of that, I have no doubt the Blue OX system would fit the truck. But I don't advise this approach and imagine no one else would either unless it were a 1 time emergency. ONLY 4x4's of the model with a 2 speed transfer case with a NEUTRAL setting will allow flat tow of these trucks. The Neutral setting allows for all of the drivetrain to continue to rotate BUT the transmission is taken out of the equation. Most Class A or equal sized gas RV's are capable of towing around 10,000 lbs (but you need to make sure YOUR tow capacity) if so, you could pull a trailer and put your 2wd truck on the trailer. A tow dolly would also work, but not a fan of those at all as I have used one and its a pain to use, also more prone to issues.

@Mike You are completely correct, only certain models of 4WD (the 4x4s) are able to be flat towed. I've heard of people trying to remove/disconnect the driveshaft each time they want to tow but I don't recommend it at all because it's inconvenient and there's a lot of fluid loss like you mentioned.
