Recommended Flat Towing Set Up for a 2022 Chevy Colorado

I have a great flat towing set up for your 2022 Chevy Colorado but no base plates from a 2001 Silverado will work and there's nothing special about the brake pedals or the braking system on the 2022 Colorado's.

To flat tow your Colorado you'll need a tow bar, base plate, tow bar wiring kit, braking system, high low adapter, and an optional battery disconnect switch. I have listed these parts below with a brief description along with any installation videos we may have.

Tow Bar - Blue Ox Avail Non-Binding Tow Bar item # BX7420. This tow bar features non-binding latches and a large hookup radius to make connecting/disconnecting on any terrain easy.

Base Plate Kit - Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms item # BLU93FR. This base plate has direct-connect attachment points, which make connecting/disconnecting from the tow bar quick and easy. The arms are removable to provide you with a nice clean look when not in use.

Tow Bar Wiring Kit - Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit item # RM-15267. This diode kit allows you to use your Colorado's tail lights and wiring system while preventing feedback from your RV.

According to your Colorado's owner's manual, you will need to disconnect the negative battery cable to flat tow your vehicle. To make this as easy as flipping a switch you can install the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect with Switch for Towed Vehicle w/ Supplemental Braking System item # RM-766. This will keep you from having to manual disconnect and reconnect your battery every time you travel. This kit works with the positive cable but it accomplishes the same thing.

Supplemental Braking System - Brake Buddy Select 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System item # HM39524. This system offers intense, emergency braking or steady, smooth braking in a single portable system. Easily switch between proportional or full braking from the cab of your motorhome using the remote. The included charge line kit will keep your Colorado's battery charged while you tow.

High Low Adapter - The tow bar needs to be within 3" of level. If you measure the height of the inside top of the hitch receiver tube on your RV, and the height difference is more than 3 inches above/below the base plate tab height, you'll need a high/low adapter.
