Connecting and disconnecting takes just a few simple moves. Insert each arm into the receiver, twist until it locks, and secure it with the pin. When you’re done towing, pull the pin, rotate, and remove the arms—it’s that straightforward. The twist-lock system keeps everything tight and dependable every time you hook up.
This kit bolts directly to the chassis with no welding required, creating a solid mount that spreads towing forces evenly across the frame. The durable steel construction is powder coated to resist rust and corrosion, giving you confidence for long hauls. With a bracket distance of 24" and a height of 17", it’s built for strength and consistency out on the road.
This base plate pairs directly with Blue Ox tow bars for a secure fit. If you’re running a Roadmaster or Demco tow bar, adapters (RM-031, RM-031-5, or DM9523041, sold separately) make it easy to connect without replacing your existing gear. Integrated mounting points also let you add an electrical connector plug bracket (sold separately) so your wiring stays neat and protected at the front of your setup.
You don’t need specialized tools or welding gear to get this installed. The base plate bolts securely to your vehicle’s chassis using the included mounting hardware for a straightforward setup that fits right into a weekend project plan. Its been two years since installation of the Blue Ox Baseplate. Since then, Ive flat towed the CRV from NJ to FL and back three separate times with many other shorter trips in between. Paired with a Blue Ox Tow Bar, the system has worked flawlessly since installation.

Follow up. Ive put about 8000 miles on the setup and its been great. A 34 ton suburban pulls nicely behind my Dutch star, and they dont have a steering lock so its nice not to have to retrieve keys when stopping for the night. I have used the safety cable attachment a few times for straight line pulls with a small shackle when working as a rally racing volunteer, its been fine but I wouldnt side pull on it.
