Why Does Battery of 2023 Buick Encore GX AWD Need to be Disconnected to Flat Tow

Question:
Just a quick question. We are in the process of ordering the Blue Ox tow bar for our 2023 Buick Encore GX AWD. I see that part of the flat tow process is to disconnect the negative battery cable. Just for my own piece of mind, what is the reason for this step? Thanks Ed V.

Hey Ed, for most vehicles the steering wheel is locked when the vehicle is off so the only way to get it to be unlocked is to have the ignition in a position that unlocks it. The problem then is that when the key is on the battery drains. So the solution is to have the battery disconnected so that you can have the steering wheel unlocked and also have the battery in decent shape when you arrive. The Blue Ox base plate kit part # BLU43FR is correct for your 2023 Buick Encore GX AWD but do you have the rest of your flat towing setup picked out?
