If you like your setup to look clean when not towing, this kit makes it happen. The base plate’s hidden design leaves the front end looking seamless, and the removable arms come off with a simple twist. When they’re removed, nothing sticks out past the front of the vehicle, so you won’t be bumping into them. Receiver covers keep dirt out and give it a finished look until you’re ready to hook up again.

Hooking up is simple with the twist-lock design. Each arm slides into the receiver and locks in place with a quick turn—no tools, no hassle. When you’re done towing, pull the pin, twist, and remove the arms just as easily. It’s a clean system that saves time whether you’re at home or on the road.

This base plate bolts directly to the chassis using the included mounting hardware—no welding required. The sturdy steel construction spreads towing forces evenly across the frame to help prevent stress on suspension components. It’s powder coated for corrosion resistance and built for confidence mile after mile.
Whether you’re running a Blue Ox, Roadmaster, or Demco tow bar, this base plate can fit into your current setup. It pairs directly with Blue Ox tow bars for a secure connection and can adapt for use with Roadmaster (RM-031 or RM-031-5) or Demco (DM9523041) tow bars when using the correct adapters (sold separately). Integrated mounting points also make it easy to attach an electrical connector plug bracket when you’re ready to finish out your flat towing setup.
Everything bolts on securely—no fabrication needed—so it’s right at home for a weekend DIY project. The kit includes all mounting hardware and lines up with defined chassis points for accurate alignment. With a distance between brackets of 20-1/2" and bracket height of 22-3/4", it’s easy to plan your setup for smooth towing performance every trip.

I am glad you were able to get it installed with no issues and a little help from our video! What kind of coach are you pulling the Kia Soul with?

Its been two years since installation of the Blue Ox Baseplate. Since then, Ive flat towed the CRV from NJ to FL and back three separate times with many other shorter trips in between. Paired with a Blue Ox Tow Bar, the system has worked flawlessly since installation.

Thanks for the detailed review Chris, and the pointers! This will be most helpful to others. What was your favorite stop in those 7,000 miles? Where did you go, what did you see?

Follow up. Ive put about 8000 miles on the setup and its been great. A 34 ton suburban pulls nicely behind my Dutch star, and they dont have a steering lock so its nice not to have to retrieve keys when stopping for the night. I have used the safety cable attachment a few times for straight line pulls with a small shackle when working as a rally racing volunteer, its been fine but I wouldnt side pull on it.

It has been a good system. I would still give it 4 stars a year later just because it was a difficult job to install. Not for the faint of heart. So far have about 6k miles of towing with it. Would I do it again….Yes as it was worth the effort.
