Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at the replacement lock cylinder for the bolt toolbox latch. This one codes to the early model GM key. Now this is designed to work with the Chevrolet and GMC vehicles. If you want to know the vehicles this'll work on is what I'd recommend is go to the product page of this part number and at the bottom of the page it'll have a list of the vehicles that it works on. Now you can use this replacement lock cylinder to replace a broken bolt cylinder in your toolbox latch or you can change it out to fit a different ignition key. This lock uses your vehicle's ignition key so you always have the right key with you.And the way you code it to the lock is you just insert your ignition key into the bolt cylinder, turn the key once, and then the lock is permanently coded to your key.
It does use a six plate tumbler sidebar to prevent picking and bumping it a lot. And it is weatherproof automotive quality construction. Uses a stainless steel lock shutter to keep out any dirt and moisture from the cylinder. And as I mentioned, it does lock automatically when the key is removed. One note I do want to mention is the bolt locks permanently code to only one vehicle.
They cannot be recoded or re-keyed. But that should do it for the review on the replacement lock cylinder for the bolt toolbox latch and this codes to the early model GM key.

There seems to be a small area on the key cylinder that doesn’t allow me to push the c clip and the small piece that go’s on before it onto the black plastic. Doesn’t allow me to fix, have to grind a small area off. Not happy.

Works great on my leer utility topper that the previous owner had lost the keys for. I spoke with Kathy in sales and she was very helpful in making sure that these lock mechanisms would fit. Installed 3 of them in 15 minutes! Solved the problem for $50.00. These were $30.00 cheaper than the locksmith quote to “impression” a new key and now my truck key opens the topper too. Ordered 3 of these for a truck cap I purchased on craigslist. Fit and function is good. Solid replacement. Re-keying was easy. The 3rd was defective. The key would not go into the tumbler more than half an inch no matter how I tried. I called the number on the website and talked to a REAL PERSON; who pulled up my order and sent out a replacement lock immediately. No hassle, no bs. Just sent it out and told me to toss the other one when I receive it in good condition. A+

This product is crazy smart. It’s so rare to see a product that meets, let alone exceeds your expectations. I had a small issue with adapting the key barrel to the locking mechanism on a utility top I bought a that was already keyed to a Toyota. It took about 5 minutes of thought and effort and everything worked perfect. Using your ignition key to open your box is great. Much appreciated!

Lock cylinders came just barely on time as estimated. In order to make sure things were done just right, I took it slow on the first replacement, took about 30min, then the next took about 10min and the next 5min, this was in 25° weather with gloves and basic tools. Really all that was needed for my locks was needle nose pliers and an adjustable wrench. My existing key turned ckockwise in a full 360°, then worked perfectly. So nice to not have a separate key!
