This BOLT (Breakthrough One-key Lock Technology) hood lock for Jeep JK puts a formidable obstacle in the path of a thief. It installs easily behind your Jeep's grill using the existing rivet holes. It gives your Jeep an additional latch in case you forget to close the side latches, and helps to prevent hood flutter for a quieter ride.

BOLT has solved that problem by designing a line of locks that can operate with a key you already have handy - your vehicle ignition key.
When you insert your own key into the cylinder, spring-loaded plate tumblers move up and down until they are matched exactly to that key. The first time the key is rotated, the cylinder is uniquely coded to that key. When the key is removed, the cylinder moves into the locked position. When the key is turned again, it will rotate to the unlocked position.

Let's take a look at our BOLT hood lock and this one codes to the Jeep Wranglers, the JKs, and it's gonna fit a couple different years and models, so make sure you're double checking the fit guide here at etrailer.com to be sure you're get in the right parts the first time. Now, if you're not familiar with these, the BOLT locks are a custom fit lock that secures your Jeep's hood to prevent theft of valuable engine components and also helps reduce hood flutter for a nice quieter ride as well. So what's neat about this is it uses a latch in the back, obviously, but it uses your vehicle's ignition key and always have the right key when you need it. You simply insert your ignition key in here.
The first time you get this, after you peel off that security tape there that says only enter one time, it's gonna key light the first time you do it. You turn the key one time. The lock is now permanently coded to your particular key. It can never be re-keyed again or anything like that. It's a one-time key.
The plate tumbler sidebar prevents picking and bumping and it has an automotive-quality lock built into it and everything. So it's durable, weatherproof. The cylinder is a cast zinc cylinder that's gonna offer superior corrosion resistance. The lock is a stainless steel lock and the shutter on the lock is a stainless steel, so that's gonna keep out dirt, moisture, debris, and it does have the attached hard rubber cover and that as well is gonna keep dust, debris, moisture, water, that kind of stuff out. Now this latch mounts to the existing rivet holes behind your Jeep's grill.
You do get four 1/4 inch rivets included along with six plastic fasteners. I will throw up a diagram of some of the dimensions on here. Keep in mind this is a custom fit application, again, for the '07 to '17 Jeep Wranglers and Wrangler Limited, and the 2018 Jeep JK Wrangler, or the '18 Jeep JK Wrangler Unlimited edition as well. Easy to install and product is very nice
4XE if you want toi use this insert you will need to remove 2 of the tabs preventing it to mounmt properly. just cut them off you dont really need them after that it goes on just Fine. It is the 2 areas bumps where the clip would catch between the upper torx screws.

Secures the JL Wrangler hood so only the key holder can access the engine compartment.
Easy to key the BOLT lock to the vehicle’s factory key.
Medium effort to remove the front grill to access the frame under the hood.
Medium effort to install the locking mechanism onto the vehicle frame under the hood.
Retains use of the factory side latches.

Ordering from an unknown site can be unnerving. but I love Bolt products. I found this item when it was no longer on the manufacturer's web site. Additionally it was less expensive than what was previously offered from the manufacturer. The shipping was quick and Customer Service/Tracking was top notch. Needed to purchase a rivet gun large enough for 1/4 inch rivets, an extra $xx to the total price.
EZ-PZ mage certain you have an "industrial-strength" pop-rivet tool. Harbor Freight has a cheap, but effective one.
Mashallah! Great idea, glad to have come across it.The ford transit connect have this kind of set up and we love it. VERY EASY TO INSTALL,THEY EVEN SEND EXTRA CLIPS and a GRILL you can't beat this deal.The instructions are very clear with pictures and let you know, if you need support the offer it to you all the way if you call them. I only wish all vehicles could benefit like the ford mustangs wink wink! ahahhahahhha . Thanks and keep up the good work
Easy to follow instructions, easy to install. No hiccups. A few minor points:
1. Box shows a small rivet tool. You need a large one. $[XX] at Harbor Freight will get you what you need (see picture).
2. Box says you just need a Phillips screwdriver. Nope - you need a #20 Torx bit (as per the written instructions inside the box). You can't own a Jeep TJ or newer and not own a set of Torx bits.
3. The lock cover is a little on the large side. Not good or bad, it just is. Maybe a visual passive theft deterrent?

Wanted a hood lock for my jeep, this one fits the bill cause you can use your ignition key. Real easy to install, need a heavy duty rivet gun. Gives me peace of mind.
