Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the TowSmart Baja Collection ball mount with the two inch hitch ball for two inch hitches. This offers a 5-1/4 inch drop, four inch rise, and a 5,000 pound gross towing weight capacity. Now, this ball mount will let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. The shank portion right here is what'll slide into your vehicle's two inch hitch receiver and it'll secure with the included pin and clip. Now, the hitch pin diameter is 5/8 of an inch.
So when you go to insert this into your hitch receiver, you'll line the holes up so they all match, slide your pin all the way through, and then this one, this comes out the other side, just go ahead and clip it to secure it in place. Now, we do also offer hitch locks if you want extra security to be able to lock this so nobody can take it. And those hitch locks we do sell separately on our website. To remove it, just take out your clip and your pin, and then you can slide that out of your hitch receiver. Now, the hitch ball right up here, this will provide the connection point for your trailer's coupler.
The hitch ball diameter is two inches. Now, this ball mount is also designed, if you can see, with the unique X-shaped shank so that the water can drain out of the receiver while this is installed, preventing this ball mount from seizing up. This will offer both a drop and a rise position to ensure level towing. The drop is gonna be 5-1/4 inches and that's measured from the top of the shank to the top of the ball platform. If you flip it over, that would be the rise position.
It would get you a four inch rise and that's again from here to here. But if you notice the ball is upside down, so you would have to loosen the nut, flip the ball over and then re-torque it back down. But what makes it simple on this ball mount is they have a lock rail system and I wanted to go in close up just so we can talk about it. If you look, they have these ridges right up here on both sides. And also if you flip it on the other side, they do the ridges also on there.
And the reason those ridges are there, it locks the ball in place so you don't have to use two wrenches. You can see the flats on the ball will line up with those ridges. So when you go to torque this down, like if you flip it over, put it in the rise position, the lock flats will line up there and you can just torque it down without having to use a second wrench on it. Makes it a lot easier. Now, this is durable steel, has a nice black matte finish on it to resist rust and corrosion. Application again fits two inch by two inch trailer hitch receivers. Gross towing weight capacity is 5,000 pounds. Tongue weight capacity of 500 pounds. And the last thing just wanna measure the length, and when they say the length on a ball mount, that's measuring from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball. So on this one you can see, if we go center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball is gonna be right at 10 inches. But that should do it for a look at this TowSmart Baja Collection ball mount with the two inch hitch ball for two inch hitches.

The hitch that I ordered came with a ball and pin that ordinarily one has to purchase separately. That was convenient for me since the price was better than any other option. etrailer.com has been a great source for me in the past and continues to be so.
This particular hitch took longer than normal to receive, but I assume it was coming from the other side of the planet. Apart from that, it was A great purchase.
Looks good but time will tell. Should include instructions as to what to do and remove the plastic insert in the pin hole.

Ball did not fit my trailer. I chose to not just replace the ball. Had been gifted the right sized ball literally by the Lord himself. Day B4 this one arrived. Was with items a neighbor was discarding! Talk about Him running ahead and providing even before I pray for it! He does that so often especially when Iam doing my best to obey Him in areas I struggle with. He's so amazing!

Flipped this mount upside down for the rise. Leveled out my little trailer just fine. If your bumper is too thick, this might be too short. Worked well with my ‘26 Equinox EV.
Great quality, the 1.25” hitch has a x design shaft which significantly reduces the chance of it getting stuck inside your hitch and insuring a tight fit without the wiggle and clunk that other brands and designs have. Great purchase!
