This thing is a beast of a ball mount. My only complaint is that its made in China. Would have much preferred something made in the U.S

  • Will the Use of a 2-1/2 Inch to 2 inch Trailer Hitch Reducer Sleeve Reduce the Hitch Capacity
You have a couple of options. The best thing to do would be to use a ball mount that fits in your hitch. The reason is that you will not have to worry about a reducer sleeve fitting, any capacity reduction, or adding another component in the system. For 2-1/2 inch receivers we have # RP45323 for an 18,000 pound fixed ball mount. The other option is to use a reducer, # C45405. The hitch capacity should not be dramatically changed so if it is rated to tow the 13,000 pounds you need to tow,...

  • Ball Mount Recommendation for a Ford F450 with a 2-1/2 inch Hitch Opening
There are three ball mounts we offer that will work for the 2-1/2 inch hitch on your Ford F450 with a 2-1/2 inch opening. The problem that many encounter is that the Ford 2-1/2 inch hitches are very tight with round corners and many ball mounts like the Reese Titan Ball Mount # RP45323 that you referenced will not fit without modification. The ball mounts we have found to work on the Ford 2-1/2 hitches are the Cushioned Ball Mount # AMSCV-2, the Cushioned Ball Mount # AMSCV-4, and the...

  • How to Determine Tongue Weight of an 18,000 Pound Trailer
Tongue weight is typically 10 to 15 percent of the gross trailer weight. However there are several trailers that do not follow this rule; such as toy haulers as one example, which can be as much as 20 percent or so of the gross trailer weight. If your trailer weighs 18,000 pounds when loaded and ready to tow then 10 to 15 percent would be 1,800 to 2,700 pounds. If your tongue weight is actually 6,000 pounds then that would mean it is about 33 percent of the gross trailer weight. This...

  • Can a Ball Mount for a 2-1/2 Inch Class V Trailer Hitch be Used in the Rise Position
Depending on the ball mount, you can use it in the rise or drop position. Some ball mounts, like # 45291, can only be used in the drop position. The Reese Titan Ball Mount, # RP45323, that comes in the etrailer Ball Mount Kit, # EBMK25518, can be used in the rise or drop position. It will provide 3-1/2 inches of rise or 5 inches of drop. I have included a link to our FAQ article on choosing the right ball mount for you.

  • Reese Trailer Hitch # 45297 Recommendation for a 2002 Ford F-350
I would recommend the Reese Trailer Hitch, part # DT45508, for your 2002 Ford F-350 Super Duty. This hitch will fit with the factory spare tire and will be able to tow up to 18,000 lbs of gross trailer weight. I attached installation instructions for this hitch. You may be interested in purchasing a Reese Titan Ball Mount for 2-1/2 inch Receivers, part # RP45323, a Hitch Ball with 2 inch Diameter and Medium Shank, part # A-90, and a Hitch Ball with 2-5/16 inch Diameter and Medium Shank,...

  • Weight Capacity of Curt Class V 2-1/2 Inch Hitch Receiver, Part # C15810
You are correct that the product description for the Curt Class V 2-1/2 Inch Hitch Receiver, Part # C15810, shows the same tongue weight and gross towing weight ratings with and without weight distribution. This is because unlike lower capacity hitches, say a Class III, this Class V hitch is already rated at or near the vehicle structural limits. Strictly speaking, adding a weight distribution setup would give this hitch receiver higher capacity, but it would serve no purpose. Unless...

  • Hitch Ball And Pin Recommendation For 2-1/2 Inch Receiver On 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD
If you have a 2-1/2 inch receiver on your 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD the 2 inch ball I recommend is the CURT Hitch Ball, part # A-90. This hitch ball has a shank diameter of 1-1/4 inches and the length of the shank is 2-5/8 inches. The Reese Ball Mount, part # RP45323, you referenced has a ball mount that is 1 inch thick so this hitch ball will work fine with the ball mount. • Ball Mount Recommendation for a 2016 Ford F-350 with 2-1/2 Inch Trailer Hitch
Since the tongue weight of the trailer will pull down a little on the truck you can go with a ball mount that has a 5 inch drop. I actually recommend going with an adjustable ball mount that has multiple balls, # WS6-25. This ball mount has a 2 inch and 2-5/16 inch ball, a built-in tongue weight scale, and the height can be adjusted in 1 inch increments. It is also made of aluminum so it won't rust. Originally, because the radius at the inside corners of the Ford OEM hitches were more rounded than usual, getting aftermarket hitch accessories that would fit was a problem. Ballmounts could be altered to fit by sanding off the powder coat at the corners. In the meanwhile, Reese has altered the design of the ball mount slightly by rounding the shank edges so that it will be compatible with the Ford OEM 2-1/2 inch receivers. I have confirmed this with Reese. The # RP45323 ballmount should...

  • Availability of a 12 inch or Longer Ball Mount to Clear Open Tailgate of 2011 GMC Sierra

Then, you'd use a ball mount like the # BH20 from CR Brophy. The # BH20 offers a 2 inch drop (we don't have anything in a 3 inch drop) and a hitch pin hole to ball mounting hole distance of 13-1/4 inches. For a 2 inch ball, you'd use part # A-90.
