Michael: Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a quick look at the Bulldog Collar Lock Coupler with high profile latch. This is a heavy duty coupler, that's going to be ideal for your utility, livestock, cargo, or construction trailers. It does have a weld on 50 degree A frame connection there, so if you've got a 50 degree A frame trailer, this is going to work great for you, you just welded in place and it will give you that connection so that you can pull it.It does have a 15,000 pound weight capacity. So it should do a good job for you pulling those trailers. It has a hinge socket, the ball socket here.

So when we pull back on our collar lock lever, it's going to pop out, make it easy to get connected to that 2-5/16 inch hitch ball. Then when we're ready to reconnect, we just push that in, pull the collar back, pull the latch back, which will release the collar forward. That will lock it in place. So we're going to have a continuously tight fit, which is going to make sure that we're not coming loose. We're also going to have that visual indication to know that everything is lined up properly, it's all in place.So that's the nice part of that collar lock, just automatically pulls back to release and then closes when everything is connected.

Our high profile latch is going to be very easy to manipulate, even if we've got thick work gloves, just simply pull up on that, and then back. It does have a 1/4 inch hole right here. So they've included a pin, but if you want, you could substitute like a padlock or something to make sure you have extra security for your trailer.This whole thing is a high strength, steel construction. So it's going to be very durable, should hold up well to the use and abuse that your trailer receives. We do have a built in jack attachment here.

This whole opening is right at 2-1/2 of an inch in diameter. So it's going to be a great place to mount your round 2-1/2 inch utility jack. Our overall length as you can see it kind of tapers back here and expands down. But if I measure from the front piece to the back here at the top, it's right about 16-3/4 of an inch. If I we're to measure from the front to this bottom edge here, I'd call that closer to about 18-3/4 of an inch.So it's going to be a nice option if you are needing a coupler for your A frame trailer.

This does come with a five year limited warranty from Bulldog. So if you're in the market for a trailer coupler, I think this is going to do a good job for you. That spring loaded latch, I think is a nice option to make it easier, give you a little bit wider ball opening so that it's easier to get hooked up to your ball when you're connecting.
