Question:
I read your QandA Why Yakima HoldUp Bike Rack Is Not Rated For RVs and I also see where the Yakima Onramp rack has a lower weight rating for RVs than for automobiles. I have a class B RV, a Winnebago Travato, on a Ram Promaster chassis. The rear wheels are a lot closer to the hitch than with a Class A or C RV. Im looking at an Onramp for two bicycles, one of which is a Trek Verve+ 3 lowstep. Would the RV weight reduction apply in my case? Thank you.

To determine whether or not the Yakima OnRamp # Y36FR can safely be used on your Class B motorhome you just need to measure from the center of your rearmost axle to the center of the hitch pin hole on your hitch receiver. If this is 72" or greater, then your motorhome is considered a motorhome and you need to abide by the lowered weight rating.
For a bike rack that doesn't have these types of restrictions and can have a ramp added on I recommend the Swagman E-Spec:
- Swagman E-Spec # S94FR
- Swagman Ramp and Bridge # S32YR
The E-Spec has a 70 lb weight capacity per bike and just requires the folding feature to be immobilized with the included bolt, washers, and nut to make is RV ready.
