Video Transcript for Let’s Check Out the Rhino-Rack Fairing for Roof Racks

Today we'll be taking a look at the 44 inch long Rhino-Rack fairing, part number RRRF3. There's also multiple different sizes, starting with the 32-inch part number RRRF1, the 38-inch RRF2, and the 50-inch, RRRF4.Speaker 2: This fairing is going to help by deflecting the air around the vehicle, so it makes for a quieter ride when you're out on the road. This stylish design is going to help to enhance the look of the roof of your vehicle, as well as your roof rack. And when you get your fairing in your box and you pull it out, you're going to have this protective film that's going to be over the top, and you can pull this off if you so choose, or you can leave it on to protect against any kind of bugs or dings or dents on your fairing. And with the wind hitting this, you're going to see that it can bounce off the top of the vehicle, so there's going to be rubber bumpers here on the bottom to help protect the vehicle's finish. And all your tools and accessories for this that you're going to need, including your bolts, washers, clips, brackets, all that stuff will be included, including your Allen tool to fasten them and tighten them down. The Rhino-Rack fairing offers a limited lifetime warranty through the manufacturer. Now that we've gone over some features, let's show you how easy it is to install.

Just make sure that you have your back bolts undone, so the plates will slide out of the way like they have. Set it over the top of your cross-bar and then you can rotate them so they fit nice and flush. Now, this fairing will work with your round, square, elliptical, even arrow type crossbars, and some factory crossbars as well. You just need to make sure that your crossbar has a width of at least 35 1/2 inches. As you can see, these are going to be nice and contoured to the Rhino-Rack roof rack system, meeting up with all the grooves and keeping it nice and aerodynamic. Rotate the bottom around so that the hole lines up with the other hole.

Then, take your bolt, your Allen bolt with the washer, place it in the top, and start threading it in. Use your included Allen tool to tighten them down, and we'll repeat this on the other three. And as you can see when we tighten down the front ones, it's going to pull and adjust pressure to push down on the front by tightening up that back racket. You can see it coming back down it, and you just want to be careful not over-tighten these because the plastic can break. Keep in mind for all your different lengths, all the hardware and features will be the same, and that completes the look at our Rhino-Rack fairings.

Very flimsy. My roof rails do not go far enough forward of my sunroof opening so the sunroof hits this when I open it. Could not use it. I don't see how any car with a sunroof could use this since no roof rails go all the way to the windshield to allow this to be mounted in front of the sunroof opening.

by:

It cut down on the drag and noise tremendously. Highly recommend to go with the roof rack!

by:

Thanks for the quick shipping! The fairing is a perfect fit and looks great on the car-

The Rhino Rack 38" Fairing is a perfect fit on my RR Vortex system for 2017 Ford Focus Hatchback. Assembly and installation were quick and easy. The online order process was a snap and shipping was super quick. Thanks to eTrailer for all the product information on the website.

by:

The rack is exactly what I wanted for my Ford Focus ST. I did however, go for the bigger fairing than what is recommended. I felt the recommended wind fairing was too short for the width of my car. the one I purchased is in the pictures. The recommended size would be about 1.5 inches shorter on each end. The rack is sturdy, mounts are dead on. Would purchase again for other vehicles in our household.

by:

Well made and easy to install. Money well spent.

by:

The wind fairing arrived really fast and was expertly packed (small and with no unnecessary packaging to ship the item safely). The fairing was super easy to mount and the instructions were very straight forward-took about 15 minutes. Great quality and works as intended.

by:

Rhino rack and Fairing perfect fit on my 2015 Focus

by:

Def helped with the wind noise and vibrations going down the highway. Probably could have ordered a bigger one but still works! It is used in a Chevy Volt for reference

by:

Simple to mount to the Rhino Rack bar and illuminated the loud whistle from the wind!

by:

I’m beyond thrilled with my roof rack! Perfect fitment, easy directions, and it is super sturdy ??

GREAT. STILL FAIRING THE WIND

by:

Great product

by:

This was purchased for my 2019 Subaru Outback and was the closest size that fit between the roof rails. It was actually too wide and I had to trim it to fit due to how the cross bars were recessed.

The placement does restrict the use of the sunroof. If you regularly use it.

Also, if you intend to use combine this with a cargo pod, versus a rack. Do not attempt. You'd need to notch gaps into the fairing to allow mounting of the pod onto the cross rails.

I've used this twice since purchase for an experiment. Due to modifying it to make it fit my vehicle it voided the warranty/option to return it...

by:

I was never able to use it. Once I had mounted the cargo box on roof rack, there was no way to attach the fairing. If I attached the fairing, there was no way to mount the cargo box. Never used the fairing.. still sitting in the closet.

by:

This attachment looks cool and seems to do it's job when a car-top carrier is installed, however there seems to be a tapping on the roof at certain speeds and wind directions will driving. It's not consistent but is a bit annoying. Also, depending on how your carrier or roof rack attachment mounts, you will have issues with the mounting points conflicting.

by:

Works great and looks even better

by:

I ordered a Rhino Rack Roof Rack and Wind Fairing for my 2011 Nissan Frontier. Both items arrived on time and were exactly what I had wanted. Thank you to etrailer.

by:

I love this product. Just got it in the mail today, and was able to install it right away. The whistling noise from my crossbars and rooftop basket went away completely. The only thing wrong with my order, was one of the nuts on the mounting/clamp bracket was missing. I was able go to my local Home Depot and find a nut that fit perfectly. Hardly an inconvenience; the fix costed less than a dollar. I'll give a 4.5/10 rating. Will recommend to friends when theyre in the market

by:

Had a buzzing noise inside the car any time I went over 35 mph. Drove me and the family crazing. After purchasing and installing this on my 2018 Subaru CrossTrek the noise level dropped by 99%. It's been a year since I've installed it and I'm completely happy with this purchase.

by:

Fits well on the Rhino Rack cross bars, on my 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo (no sunroof). It is not properly curved for the roof, but it will work its way down the extra half inch on the two sides.

by:

We were experiencing some wind noise with the crossbars, so decided to give this a try. It works great, no noise now, good fit, simple install. A bonus- it does not ride down against the roof, so no concerns of wear on the paint.

by:

Love it looks great easy install

by:

The fairing solved my wind issue and noise. Thanks so much for your help Teresa. Your customer service was right on and awesome.

  • Recommended Ski & Snowboard Carrier and Wind Fairing for 2009 Honda Accord With Roof Rack
The ski and snowboard carrier I highly recommend that will work with the Rola Sport Series Roof Rack 59757 is the Yakima FreshTrack # Y03092 because it is easy to use and includes locks to protect your valuable skis and snowboards. The FreshTrack # Y03092 can carry up to 4 pairs of skis or 2 snowboards and will simply clamp around your Rola Roof Rack 59757. To open the carrier all you need to do is push a button, though it also comes with locks which will secure your gear. It is made of...

  • Does the Stallion Aluminum Roof Mounted Cargo Basket 288-09200 Have a Fairing?
Hey Patrick! There isn't a fairing specifically designed for the Aluminum Roof Mounted Cargo Basket item # 288-09200. I recommend going with the Flint Hill Goods Roof Cargo Basket item # FHG74ZR instead, which has a built in fairing. It has comparable dimensions, a slightly larger capacity, and will save you a few dollars. Does your 2023 Mazda CX-30 have a roof rack?

  • How to Quiet a Loud Roof Rack
The only solutions to a loud roof rack are to remove it, install new Vortex strips like item # RRM626, or to install a fairing like the item # RRRF2 you were looking at. No matter what brand you have they are all loud and obnoxious so I don't want to get your expectations up that swapping out your Rhino-Rack for a Yakima or Thule is going to make a significant difference. The fairings direct the air above the bars so you may want to ensure you have the correct size. I do not see any orders...

  • If I Purchase A Wind Fairing, Will It Make A Difference In The Noise My Roof Rack Makes?
Hey John, Adding a wind fairing like the Rhino Rack # RRRF2 is going to help with the whistling noise. Now it wont completely eliminate it, as anything you add to the roof of the vehicle is going to make noise. However, it is going to help redirect that wind and reduce the noise you hear. If the noise is bad I would definitely recommend a fairing, or a good playlist with the radio turned up! What are you mainly using the rack to carry?

The only solution to reducing wind noise on a roof rack, like your Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars 54" # RRVA137B-2, is to install a wind fairing / deflector. To determine which size to get, measure the usable crossbar space between the crossbar's mounting legs as seen in the illustration I made for you. If this distance is 30-1/2" or more then you can use Rhino-Rack Fairing 38" # RRRF2. If this distance is 26" or more then go with Rhino-Rack Fairing 32" # RRRF1. I attached demonstration...

  • How To Select The Correct Fairing Length For a Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Roof Rack
Without knowing your vehicle and how the Rhino-Rack Vortex is attached I can't say exactly what fairing is going to be best. You will need to take some measurements on your roof to select the correct length fairing from the list below. To get the correct measurement of your leg distance, which is the measurement used to fit your fairing, you'll need to measure the distance between your roof rack legs while it is installed. This will let you know what fairings are too big, or too small, for your roof rack. I recommend picking a fairing that has a minimum measurement as close to this measurement as possible. • Recommendation for 2 Surfboard Carrier on a 2024 Ford Expedition
Hey Katelyn, thanks for reaching out! I recommend picking up the Lockrack Surfboard Rack # LR97VR which can hold 1-2 surfboards and easily holds the boards with the adjustable arms. The best part about this rack is that the arms secure the boards well enough that no additional anchors (like front and rear tie downs) are needed! Thule only claims that the AeroBlade crossbars are quieter than other bars, which is true, but no roof rack will be silent, especially round and square bars. Just be glad that you didn't hear any flugelhorns! You can add a fairing, just not a Thule one. The Rhino-Rack fairings will fit on crossbars up to 1-1/4 inches tall and up to 3-1/2 inches wide. • How to Prevent Crossbar Whistling with Rhino Rack Aero Crossbars
The bottom of the Rhino Rack Vortex crossbars do have openings in them which can cause whistling. The openings are typically due to the measurement sections that get removed for securing the bar to the feet. Best solution is a fairing which will direct air over the bars and prevent the whistling. For that we have the part # RRRF2 which would fit well for the part # RRVA126B-2 that you have.

The Rhino Rack Euro Bars setup for the 2014 Jeep Cherokee naked roof is a square bar system that is now obsolete. Since square bars are not aerodynamic, they can create a lot of wind noise. To reduce the wind noise on this style of bars, a lot of our customers use a wind fairing to allow the wind to bounce off of the bar instead of whistling through it. • Direction of Wind Fairing While Installed in a Truck Bed
You can mount the wind fairing either way; toward the cab or toward the tailgate. I recommend facing the wind fairing towards the cab because of the airflow that comes over the cab and into the bed will then be then rerouted upward creating less resistance while the fairing is mounted forward facing. The wind fairing, when used on a cargo basket mounted in the bed of a pickup truck, will not be nearly as effective as when used on the roof of the vehicle.

The clamps of the 50" will interfere with the feet on the rack. With that being said, the perfect size is the 38" Fairing # RRRF2. This length provides the best fit for your crossbar length.
