Video Transcript for Pacer Performance Hi-Five LED Truck Cab Light Kit Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at part number PP20-221. These are the Pacer Performance Hi-Five truck cab lights. These lights are going to give your truck a big rig look and make it more visible on the road. They're styled after 1988 to 2002 Chevrolet and GM Factory roof lights, so they will work as a direct replacement for those model years, but they are a universal design. They're a universal fit, so they can be applied to almost any truck out there on the road. They are going to come with your incandescent bulbs and LEDs, so you're going to see right here we have our incandescent bulbs, then we're going to have our LEDs.

You're going to see four of each laying on the table. That's because I already have one of each installed in our lights. Just these two right here, these three are empty. That way, we can show you what the incandescent ones look like and what the LED ones are going to look like. Towards the end of the video, we'll hook it up to power and we'll turn off our overhead lights so you can get a good look at that.

It does come with both, so you can choose whatever ones that are going to work best for your application or whatever ones you prefer. Now I will say that LEDs are going to be brighter, they're going to last longer, and they're much more energy efficient, when compared to incandescent lights. Each light is going to have the amber lens that's going to cover up the bulb. Those are going to sit on a black base. It's got the socket area there. It's going to sit on a black rubber base that will conform to the roof line of the vehicle.

They're going to have the holes located in them for your mounting hardware, which is included, and it's going to have the holes right here in the center. That way you can feed the wires out through and through the cab of the truck. Pretty simple installation on the roof of the vehicle. The light bases are designed to conform and seal to flat or curved surfaces. You're going to get the wiring, everything you see on the table, so the wiring, quick-splice connectors, which are these right here. You're going to get all the necessary hardware you need.

You're also going to get some very detailed instructions that are going to walk you through the installation process. You're going to get the bulbs, the washers. It's also going to come with the toggle switch and all the appropriate wiring and fuses for the toggle switch. That way you can control the lights from inside the cab of the vehicle. Now, this does require drilling, so you'll want to do that according to the included instructions. They do meet SAE specifications. Each light is going to give us a length of front to back of about 5 and 7/8 of an inch. They're going to give us a width, side to side, of about 3.5 inches, and then a height, from top to bottom, of about an inch and a half. So what we want to do now, is we want to go ahead and hook up the incandescent one first. That's going to be this one right here. So I will show you what that looks like in there. You can see how the socket's going to fit into the hold. These right here are just the individual light sockets. The bulbs just plug right into there, and then you can feed them into the light or into the rubber housing at the base. So I'm going to go ahead and hook up the incandescent bulb first. The black wire is going to be our ground connection. The red wire is going to be for power. You can see there that it sends out a nice, consistent glow. Again, this one is the incandescent bulb. Pretty nice, bright shine. The amber lens does allow plenty of light to come through and illuminates it very well. Now we're going to go ahead and switch over to the LED light. You can see here that the LED one is brighter. It sends out a stronger signal, but it's going to have the same effect. It's going to allow light to come through the amber lens. It just does it more efficiently, more effectively, and again, it's going to be a little bit brighter when compared to the incandescent light. LEDs are also going to burn brighter as well as last longer when compared to incandescent bulbs. So once you have all five of these lit up, you can imagine that they're going to be pretty bright, and they're going to give your truck a really nice look.
