Question:

Im looking at purchasing a used Reese fifth wheel hitch. The truck Im putting it in is a 2004 f150 with the 5 1/2 ft bed. The hitch is part # 30049. The rails are included with the hitch. What install kit do I need? I just need the brackets and hardware.

For your 2004 Ford F-150 with 5-1/2 foot bed you can use brackets # RP50081 to work with the rails shown in the picture you submitted. You will also need hardware kit # RP58430 to attach the rails to the brackets because no hardware should be reused.

The only issue is that you have a 5-1/2 foot bed. A slider hitch is not going to offer enough travel to safely make 90 degree turns without the trailer hitting the truck cab. A lot also depends on the width and design of the front of the trailer so if you can tell me what the trailer is I can look into that further.

There are 2 ways to get enough clearance to safely make 90 degree turns: replacing the pin box on the trailer with a Sidewinder or using the Demco 13K auto-slider hitch. Sidewinders only fit in place of specific pin boxes so I would need to know the manufacturer and model of the pin box (which should be on a sticker or plate on the pin box).
