How To Choose The Correct Leaf Springs For My Trailer
Updated 09/02/2025 | Published 08/11/2025 >
Question:
Hello, Can you please tell me how to choose the correct leaf springs for my trailer? I have a 1999 Venture 2200 boat trailer. Single axle. One tire is starting to rub on the plastic fender and the spring appears flat and not curved. I am guessing the springs are bad now. I can send a picture if you reply. Thank You

Hello Jeff, I sure can! There are two key pieces of info we will need in order to know exactly what spring you will need. The weight capacity of your axle, and the unloaded eye-to-eye length of the current spring.
Try jacking up one side of the trailer so you can measure the spring when not under a load. Leaf springs can flatten out and flex over time. They can flex and extend up to 1" so we will keep this in mind when looking at replacements. Also, while you are down there take a look at your axle. There should be a sticker or tag that shows the weight capacity. If not, see if you can spot a part number cast on your hubs. I should be able to use that to pull up the axle specs we need.
For example, the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring # e54SR is 25-1/4" long eye to eye and is for a 3,500 lb axle.
Reply on this page with that info and I am happy to look into it and make a recommendation.

Hey Jeff, did you have a chance to measure the spring and check the axle's weight capacity? I'm here to help you find the right replacement once you have that info!
