Will 4" Offset Ball for B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Trailer Hitches Fit 2022 Ram 2500

Updated 02/13/2025 | Published 02/05/2025

Question:

Measuring the hitch ball depth from the bottom collar to the bed of on my 2022 Ram 2500 short bed, comes out to 4”, whereas the BandW extender looks to measure 4.5”. Will that work with the horizontal plate of the extended being elevated 0.5” off the bed?

Hey James! I'm not entirely sure what you're asking here. Do you want to know if you can use the # BWGNXA4085 with the additional height compared to your current ball? This ball is 5-3/4" tall from the base of the truck bed to the top of the ball. This will be approximately 1-3/4" taller than your current ball so the trailer nose will sit a little higher. Unless you're already nose high I don't see this being an issue.

More so want to know if the depth and 1/2” horizontal plate distance from my bed is acceptable or should the plate be laying flat on the bed?

@James are you saying there is a gap underneath the plate that the ball sits on? If that is the case then it is normal and you don't have to worry about it.

I followed up with B&W and they said the gap between the bed and plate is fine as long as the length and locking pin insert is proper. This also aligns with the installation instruction figures and some previous questions and answers on etrailer with regards to this offset ball. @RobinH
