How to Install the B and W Four Inch Offset Gooseneck Hitch Ball on a 2021 Ram 2500

Hey everybody, Clayton here at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the B&W 4-inch offset gooseneck ball for our B&W turnover ball on our 2021 Ram 2500. So, what sets this ball apart is it actually pushes the center of our ball 4 inches back from the center of our shank. If you take a look comparing that to our ball that comes with our kit, it is straight up and down. And the reason that you'd want an offset hitch is if you have a short bed truck, like we do here. Now, normally a gooseneck trailer, isn't going to come in contact with your cab, but in this case our customer is going to be using it to tow a camper.

So he just wants a little bit more clearance between the front of the camper and the cabin. This is going to be a standard 2 and 5/16 inch ball. We are going to have a 20,000 pound towing capacity and a 5,000 pound vertical load limit. You do want to keep in mind, you always want to check with your Ram's owner's manual and make sure that your truck is capable of towing at those capacities. And if it's not, always go with the lowest number and the reason that you're able to use this type of extender to move that ball position back is because the turnover hitch has the square sides.

So this isn't going to turn once it's in the hitch a lot of the other balls, like the OEM prep packages and stuff like that, the shank is actually round. So when you put that into your hitch, it spins and that's what really sets this apart. It's not going to spin due to the flat edges. Our ball is going to be a steel construction with a really thick gray powder coat finish to help resist rust and corrosion over time. And to install this, it's really simple.

It's almost just like the regular ball but you do want to make sure that the extension is facing backwards. We're just going to drop that into our hitch, like so, and then we can close our arm. This is what it's going to look like whenever you're using it. Normally the ball position would be here. Now it shifted 4 inches back to make room for that clearance.

The only downside to using this is we're actually not going to be able to turn our ball over like we can with our stock gooseneck ball. But they do sell covers for these hitches that way you can keep all that dirt and debris from getting down into your hitch. That being said, now we can go ahead and hook up to our trailer. Now we're going to lower our hitch down onto our ball and get everything hooked up. With everything hooked up, strapped in safely, we're now ready to hit the road. That's going to do it for our look at the B&W 4" extension gooseneck ball on our 2021 Ram 2500..
