How Big of a Gap Should the Timbren Severe Service Have? Which Ones are Right for My Truck?

Updated 01/23/2025 | Published 01/19/2025

Question:

I have the timbren drtt3500d and they sit right on the axle without a gap on my truck. From what I can tell the drtt3500e is about .6” shorter but the same Bumper and bolt pattern that should still fit the leaf spring trucks ? This would give me the proper gap. Let me know if you think I should order them !thanks

Hello Hans,

I am a little confused because you have a 2012 Ford F-250 in our fitguide, but the drtt3500d which is our part # T94VR is designed for 2010-2013 Ram 2500 and 2010-2025 Ram 3500; the drtt3500e our part # TDRTT3500E is designed for 2014-2025 Ram 2500. When these severe service Timbrens are installed you can have a gap of 1/2 to 1 1/2" but as you can see in the picture I attached of an install we did here there is 0 gap.

If your truck really is a 2012 Ford F-250 then you will want the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System - Severe Service - Rear Axle # TFRTT350F for the severe service.

The fitment of the Timbrens is off of the year, make, and model. I cannot recommend using a system that is not designed for your truck, also by using the wrong kit on your truck can also void out the warranty.

If you would like to verify your year, make, and model I am happy to get the right part number recommended to you.

I have an 03 ram 2500 with the t94VR. they sit directly on my axle Im hoping the drtt3500e bracket is shorter so I could gain the gap. From looking at the specs everything is the same besides it being 3/4 of an inch shorter to fit onto the platform of the newer 3/4 tons with the coils in the back. any confirmation on this? From the picture it looks correct.

@Hans Hey Hans, I just went out to the warehouse and go the measurements for the # t94VR. The bracket is right at 2 7/8", the bump stop is 3 1/2", so you are looking at 6 7/16", if you were to install the 1" spacer that is included then 7 7/16". I would hate for you to spend the money and have the same issue, so at least now you can compare it to what you have on there to see if you will get the extra space. Let me know what you find out, hopefully these will work for you.
