Welding a Trailer Hitch Receiver to a Travel Trailer
Updated 03/13/2024 | Published 10/19/2017 >
Question:
Do you happen to know how much it costs or estimate to weld a receiver hitch onto a travel trailer frame? I got an estimate the other day and I thought it was really high. I just want to make sure that no one is taking advantage of me happens often when youre a female. I would like to have the adjustable receiver hitch you sell welded onto the frame. Also, I travel between states for my job with my travel trailer. I could have the work done in any state from the midwest to the central/north east states. Thank you!

For a trailer hitch receiver for your travel trailer, I recommend the Curt Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs, 22" to 72" Wide # 13703. This hitch can be welded for a no-drill application as you stated, or it can be bolted in place. Bolting does require drilling, but does not require the prep and painting of a welded application so it will be less expensive.
From start to stop to weld, it will most likely cost about 3-4 hours of labor. I assume the rate is probably 60-75 dollars an hour. They will need to prep the frame (removing paint, grinding, cleaning) and then weld on the hitch. Then let it cool (which they shouldn't charge for that time), and then prep for paint. Then prime and paint it so it won't rust.
