Recommended Roof Storage Solution for 2022 Honda CR-V EX

Hi, I need help finding rooftop storage for my 2022 Honda CR-V EX with a naked roof and sunroof. It will be used mostly for soft and smaller items to keep the back of my SUV open for my dogs crate. No skis, snowboards, strollers, suitcases, etc. or other large/bulky items. Just one adult and a large dog, so I dont need a huge amount of storage. If it helps with recommendations, Im putting on some miles...at least 3500 from Wisconsin to the West/Southwest and back in potentially all weather conditions snow, rain, wind. I did purchase crossbars that are not OEM, but theyre made specifically for my vehicle with 165 lb capacity. Rated very highly. They are not yet installed. Whats the best option for my vehicle? Im open to either hard- or soft-sided, with or without the bars I purchased which can be returned if not needed. Id prefer to spend under $700 but can consider a bit more. Less is obviously better. Hi Kris; thanks to all of the information you provided I think I know exactly what you need. I recommend the Benton ShellRaiser Roof Cargo Box # B44FR. This has 8 cubic feet of storage and fits crossbar spreads from 13-3/8" - 29". It isn't a massive amount of space, just enough to put those extra items in it to make room for your pup.
The roof box is really light and easy to manage at 15 lbs. It also has a dual-side lid which is a must have if you ask me. The other advantage to the smaller size is it is easy to store when not in use. I have a larger roof box and it is a huge hassle to get it out and store it when we're done.
Bags like the # RL100S20 you looked at aren't bad if that is your only option but the roof box will be better. Not only does it keep things more secure, it also offers better protection from the elements. On top of that, you don't have to worry about the bag or straps scratching up your vehicle (probably won't happen if everything is secure but there is always a chance).
